When discussing football with colleagues and friends, the most often asked question of late has been whether I think Spurs will end their 50+ year wait for a league title. But today I got asked, or should I say dared, to predict the final 7 results for both Leicester City and Tottenham Hotspur. Firstly I'm not superstitious, I was born on Friday 13th, (unlucky for you perhaps!) and secondly I'm game to put my head on the block.
So here goes. Welcome to my predictions for the last 7 games of this Premier League season.

Game 1: Liverpool Vs Spurs And Leicester City Vs Southampton
For Spurs, I think it will depend on which Liverpool turns up. If it's the one that thrashed Manchester City then it could be a very tough evening. If it's the one that has capitulated several times this season, the 3 points are there to be taken. With Liverpool's only realistic chance of Champions league qualification being via the Europa league, I think Spurs will go to Anfield and come back with all 3 points.
Southampton are a good team again this year and capable of springing a surprise but I think Leicester's tenacious spirit will see them through and also gain 3 points.
    Points Totals: Leicester City 69
    Points Totals: Tottenham Hotspur 64

Game 2: Spurs Vs Man United and Sunderland Vs Leicester

Man United at the Lane is always a big game and with United finally starting to show some form, this will be a test of Tottenham's resolve. Rashford has been scoring for fun but I think he'll find little change from Wimmer and Alderweireld. Kane is going for the golden boot and I predict him to be the golden boy here. Spurs to win.
Sunderland seem to flirt with relegation every year and this year is no different. With points vital, home wins are a must if they are to escape this time around. With Jermain Defoe in the team, I see Leicester struggling in this one and think they will drop 2 points to give Spurs a real boost of confidence.
    Points Totals: Leicester City 70
    Points Totals: Tottenham Hotspur 67

Game 3: Stoke City Vs Spurs and Leicester City Vs West Ham United

Stoke is a tough place to go although they seem better away than at home this season as they look for their highest finish in the Premier League. They will put men behind the ball and I think Spurs may find it hard to break them down on enough occasions to take all 3 points. I'm going with a score draw in this one.
Ah, West Ham. Chasing the top 4 and choking on bubbles at the very thought of it. This is one occasion when I will happily celebrate blowing bubbles if they can get something here. I'm going for another draw on this one.
    Points Totals: Leicester City 71
    Points Totals: Tottenham Hotspur 68

Game 4: Spurs Vs West Bromwich Albion and Leicester Vs Swansea

West Brom are pretty safe and will have little to play for here. I can see Spurs going at this one from the first whistle much as they did against Bournemouth. I see a win and by 2 or 3 goals to further boost our goal difference.
Once again Leicester come up against relegation threatened opposition in Swansea. Swansea look much more organised of late and I fancy them to earn a point in this one and really open up the battle for the Premier league crown.
    Points Totals: Leicester City 72
    Points Totals: Tottenham Hotspur 71

Game 5: Chelsea Vs Spurs and Man United Vs Leicester

What a couple of games in prospect here. Chelsea will do everything in their power to ruin Spurs title challenge and United will still be hunting a top four finish to get Champions League qualification.
I think Spurs will draw this one but think a buoyant United may just break Leicester and sneak a 1-0 victory.
    Points Totals: Tottenham Hotspur 72
    Points Totals: Leicester City 72

Game 6: Spurs Vs Southampton and Leicester Vs Everton

Everton may have one eye on a Wembley cup final and Leicester will take advantage to get 3 points here. The Saints like to put one over on Spurs and Poch and I think they might just Nick a point in this one.
    Points Totals: Leicester City 75
    Points Totals: Tottenham Hotspur 73

Game 7: Newcastle Vs Spurs and Chelsea Vs Leicester

It's cold sweats time. It's squeaky bum time! It's the final day of the season and whether my predictions turn out to be wrong or not, I do think the title will go to the final day. Not what us Spurs fans want in some ways as it does mean the NHS may need to order in extra stock of defibrillators!! But hey, if we are still in it at this stage, we will be up for it!!
Now, the Newcastle game is a tricky one. If it was at White Hart Lane, I may be less optimistic than being at St James' Park. It will also depend on whether Newcastle are relegated already or not. Either way they will try and get a win in their final game of the season, possibly needing a win to stay up. I'm going to go with 3 points for Spurs. Just.
Chelsea. Well. How ironic would it be for them to hand their title to Spurs. Their fans will be cheering Leicester should things get this far. Make no mistake it will have echoes of Blackburn away at Liverpool when Pool fans were booing when their own team scored.
But would the Chelsea players really want to lose at home on the last day of the season? I don't think they would and I think they will grab a draw.

    Final Premier League Standings 2015/16

    1st) Tottenham Hotspur 76 Points
    2nd) Leicester City 76 Points

There is no science in my predictions and I wrote everything down on a scrap of paper before adding up the totals. It was in no way done to try and pre meditate the outcome.
I have said often over the last few weeks that our goal difference would be pivotal and my predictions suggest Spurs will win the title on goal difference.

Of course, I am no Oracle (more like Ceefax to be honest - with apologies to younger listeners who have no idea what Oracle or Ceefax was!) but it has been a fun piece to write and I only hope now that my future as a prophet will be secured if these predictions come true.

For now I dare to do and I dare to dream!!! You should too!!!

As ever, COME ON YOU SPURS!!!!!!

  2. I did a similar run through of final games and although there are a couple of differences I also came up that we would win on GD. I must admit that I am uneasy that if it is neck and neck towards the finish Chelsea can seriously hinder our prospects!

The Chelsea Leicester game does worry me should things go that far as I suspect they will! Lasagne gate take 2?

Abramovich won't want to see a manager he sacked lift the trophy in his own back yard. Chelsea will win that game.

exciting just reading this - can only see Chelsea turning up in one on those 2 home matches unfortunately. There is no way on this planet they will do anything other than lose to Leicester if it ensures we end up without the trophy. Ranieri returning will only further the sense of "rolling out the red carpet" & rolling over to have their tummies tickled.

    Dear Matt,
I'm going to hold you to this clairvoyant prediction of our season's out turn.
If you're right, then a very big bottle of bubbly is yours and justifiably so.
As there are few optimists in the ranks of us long suffering Spurs supporters, then it is fair to assume you've looked at this through pessimistically non rose coloured glasses.
It's true that we have some toughies, but for sure so do Leicester. My sense is that if we maintain contact after the next two games, then it is going to go down to the wire.
Sunday was refreshing. Keep it there Lads.

I don't think the sh1t-bags down the road are out of this yet unfortunately and I also don't see us going the last 7 unbeaten , we bettered all these sides earlier this season and only managed to win one ... Hope you nailed it though .... C.O.Y.S ......

Not yet but we have 6 points on them plus 1 for goal difference. I think its is between Leicester and ourselves

  11. burnt Guest

Only 3 if they win that game in hand though , as you say the goal diff could be crucial ... I can see plenty of twists and turns in this race yet .. Imagine beating the sh1tbags on goal diff ... I could die there and then , the happiest man there's ever been ... Lol .. C.O.Y.S ...

About this Chelsea thing against Leicester, I don't think Terry would like to lose his last game for Chelsea.

I do not trust anyone. Everyone wants to win their games, regardless of how many games are left to play. No teams are interested in helping others to win PL. Or to prevent others from winning PL.
I trust that Tottenham are doing their job and hope at the same time that all competitors for the title stumbles towards the end.

Matty, someone had to do it and I have nothing but respect for you to get out there and have a dig for all to see. If you are right, you are a hard man, we will all age a few years if we have to live through that.

Finally, after a long long.....time of supporting SPURS we are there when the whips are cracking. IMHO we are yet to unleash our sprint, is it good enough - not sure ? But it's been one run for my money this year and exceeded all expectations, whatever happens, this team surely is only going to be better next season.

How proud am I at the pub these days when the subject gets onto to the PL. "They"all now respect us and if we play to form for the rest of the season and only have to prepare for 1 game a week we are going to be very hard to beat in any game we play.

All we can control is ourselves.

Mmmmm!! Love your optimism Matt78 :) I think form, in some way, will play a less important role as we get nearer the finish line. Pressure and the ability to hold their nerves will be significant.
Being a LILYWHITE for 50 years my default position is gloom, however I hope your optimism kicks the dooda's out of my pessimism and we do as you forecast.

I look forward to feeling extremely sorry for Leicester.
I think however, that we shall go into the game against Newcastle with our fate in our own hands, and Leicester will beat Chelski.
