The football played by us last year was hardly exciting. And often we would nick the points after having been outplayed in general by other sides as low as Hull , Leicester, Villa etc.
1 st year is fine Poch has had his transitional period, time to evaluate and instill his methods, and although some seem to think we out played Utd the truth is it was a very bitty game with niether side playing well and we were the losers.
Im more interested in seeing the team gel and move with purpose, playing to win games by bossing it going forward.
1 up top with no runners, width, or pace and all we do is keep ambling around coming inside and going backwards isolating the striker.
This is where the 'philosophy' is non existent and doesn't work with the personel.

You're right - my comment was OTT in the context of this site, but you've only got to look at the responses to any blogs remotely critical of the current regime at WHL to know that there are plenty of self-proclaimed 'loyalists' who absolutely HATE dissent from their rose-tinted viewpoint, hence the 'why don't you support Arsenal/Chelsea/Liverpool/Palace/Whoever' comments which they post with monotonous regularity. I've said before that I react to other people's sometimes extreme posts - perhaps if the 'loyalists' were a bit less vehement in their attacks on the critical supporters (like me and several others on this site), I'd be more restrained in return (but I must try to tone it down - perhaps upping the dosage would help).

Difficult to know which of the above to respond to, or not, or merely say where my own head is at, so I'll go with the latter.
Here we are "just about" to apparently sign this striker, or that one, or whatever. It's mid August for F**ks sake.
So Kane gets a knock from Shawcross and Co and where does that leave us.
We must be cash rich at the moment, with Sky and Season ticket monies, yet Blofeld has done nothing of note and is net in hand in the transfer window.
Okay so he's never going to change - perhaps we should stop expecting some sensible actions in the period from May until now and be quite. Not!
We are playing without pace, were without energy against Man U and apart from the two home games against Chelski and the Gooners were poor from the New Year onwards.
Do we moan here. I do because I watch Swansea take the game to Chelski at the Bridge and feel that we just are not capable of doing that, based on recent and not so recent real on-the-pitch performances. That's why I moan. That doesn't mean I don't love them to bits and will cheer them on tomorrow and until the day I die, but we're just not good enough at this time to scale the peaks that we want to see from our Lilywhites.

I may be wrong, but the Levy/ENIC control at Spurs is what's really behind all the negativity in this fourm. If so, than everything the club does from managerial appointments to player buying and selling is going be ****. Nothing will ever be positive enough for those voices until club ownership is changed. This became clear to me finally after having read how the club is still such a shamble after just the first match of the season. Fortunately there are other forums with more balanced opinions that try to take into account all the assets and limitations at the club rather than lay everything that's wrong on the pitch at the door of club ownership. I don't want to listen to criticism without balance anymore. Hasta la vista Tottehamlive.

Winning nothing and existing is positive is it?

The post is about playing 1 single formation for every occaision, a philosophy that is spoken about but not executed, the fact were stocked with players that dont fit the system and the fact we persist ignoring these glaring deficiencies.

As much as i think Enic/Levy have overstayed their welcome the article is about sheer team mechanics nothing to do with the ownership.

Yet another person on the defensive without understanding the points raised.

Just going to put here that I went to the training ground today for autographs and pictures - never been before - and Poch said a stout 'yes' when asked if N'Jie was inside, so this should dispell the rumours he might sign for another club.

  7. You've hit a hot spot in our culture. That pendulum swings, and we respond in an equal and opposite reaction, whether it's politics or sports or whatever. Middle ground seems to be a forbidden area. Even the English can't seem to set a good example, to borrow a phrase.

I like the idea of civility without political correctness, or is that an oxymoron in today's world?

In just 17 hours, we'll see what the WHL braintrust has cooked up for us, hopefully nothing to "stoke" our negatives.

Njie is a done deal and will provide pace and width and also cover for HK. With Robby on his way I'm sure another attacker is in the pipeline hopefully one from berahino or Embolo. Personally we have the funds necessary for both. This would give us four attackers all with the adaptability to play different roles either as a central striker or in the 3 in behind. Bolasie also mentioned although I'm not convinced he's the real deal. A central mid is desperately needed for the window to be a successful one!

Well, here you and I are having a civilised exchange of views - the trouble is that we seem to be pretty much on the same side, to judge from your post a few days ago, following the United defeat. It was a poor performance and an avoidable defeat, but a lot of people seemed to have seen a totally different game, in which we played well and were unlucky - take your pick!
Your general point is also spot on: I've bemoaned the swing of the pendulum from one extreme to the other on innumerable subjects, from the trivial (tattoos - the badge of the underclass, now an essential fashion statement) to the vital (freedom of speech, once recognised as the keystone of liberal civilisation, now frequently seen as simple rudeness, less important than the 'right' not to be offended), and if it's worse in any country than the UK, I'd hate to live there.
Anyway, Stoke - who can say how that'll go? I was a big fan of Begovic, and Butland isn't in his class (judging from his feeble flap at Coutinho's shot last weekend), so perhaps it'll all come together for Spurs. On the other hand, it might not. One extreme to the other. It was ever thus.

"Poch has no tactical nouse at all. Yesterday, Stoke were being well beaten and not playing at all well. Of course being Tottenham we still and have never had the ability to kill teams off. That hasnt changed in the thirty odd years of supporting the team."
That is of course not true. We do not often in recent years give away leads. In fact we have very good stats for coming back from behind. Such short memories, some people.....
Why is that so many are so quick to slag off THFC, instead of just watching and noticing the transition that we are going through......
Nah, sack Levy, sack Poch blah blah blah.......
get real guys, we are making progress, keep the faith, and stop moaning.
