Interesting to see that Pochettino has been told that champions league is the main aim. I am of the opinion that this is what we must be aiming for but I do hope he is given proper time to do this.
The likely sales seem to be Adebayor out, Dawson, Soldado. The players will be in for a heck of a shock with double training sessions!!

Double training sessions!! if Tim Sherwood is to be believed then there might be a few not so enthusiastic trainers that will be in for a shock. Weve got a state of the art training complex lets hope the new staff know how to manage the training. I could never understand last seasons injuries that seemed to occur of the pitch. maybe they wernt injured at all. If Poch is willing to step up to the next level lets hope the players are willing to do the same.

If CL is the main aim then the board need to back Poch with sufficient funds to get us there as currently we have maybe 3 top 4 standard players and in some areas of the squad we dnt even have EPL quality standard players. In the real world you have to spend to get in the top 4. Empty promises from the board and unrealistic goals will only see our managers sacked time and again.

Notnats- We're are all allowed our opinions (as I am frequently reminded of on this web-site, for some reason), and if yours is that I embellish, tailor and construct my comments to serve my own agenda then fair, enough.

But, perhaps, your views are based more on the grounds that you disagree (to whatever degree) with some of the points I make (which I find unbelievable in itself )... and yet ,frustratingly, find that in a LOT of what I write (well, all of it really), that I am able to back it up, with an argument containing an impressive amount of substance...

I wouldn't bother comparing MP to the likes of Steve Clarke because there aren't too many similarities, but Laudrup wouldn't be a bad example at all, other than I'm not sure Laudrup was renowned for his ability to promote youth, man-management skills, or his flexibility tactically.

I could go on to explain myself on those fronts, but instead I will trust that you are WELL aware that I could, if I chose to.;)

I have ALWAYS stated that FDB would of been an exciting appointment had he got the job, but as I had also made clear, I had a FEW reservations, myself, about the furore surrounding a man who had ONLY managed one club, in a relatively poor league.

But look Notnats, believe what you want to believe, my friend. You will anyway...

I'm not sure who it will serve to speak about FDB beyond this point but, hey, what do I know...

I believe the players will LOVE MP, double training sessions, or not. Most of them will probably be expecting something like this, after observing, at close quarters, how his S'hampton team have played since his arrival in England.

And, there are PLENTY of reasons that some Spurs players will have found Tim's methods difficult to stomach, and perhaps uninspiring. Not least because of:

    -Unproven record
    -Aggressive/confrontational/brash/inexperienced management style
    -Baffling tactics/team selection
    -Short-term nature of his contract

I don't see ANY of these things being a problem to Pochettino. I think it's great that news of reported double training sessions have broken early as SOME people seem to have MP down as a bit of a 'nice guy', who has managed little ol' Southampton, and is just here as a bit of a yes man to the boards whims. Well, let me tell you, whilst Mauricio may well be a 'nice guy', he is certainly NO PUSHOVER!!! He is RUTHLESS, DRIVEN and FIERCELY AMBITIOUS (sounds a bit like our chairman, really) as he proved when after only his first season at Espanyol he began to phase out fans favourite, talisman and former team-mate Raul Tamudo after deciding that the Spaniard was no longer part of the clubs plans.

Look, I am WELL AWARE that Mauricio will have to PLENTY to prove during his time at Spurs. How he manages a BIG squad, the added weight of expectation and a testing Europa League campaign are just a few of the questions Pochettino will have to answer.

But I FULLY expect him to prove he is MORE than up to the job, and in doing so lead the club into a BRIGHT and EXCITING future.

Dare I say it, but the words 'Glory, glory Tottenham Pochspur' spring to mind. Forget the WC...Bring on pre-season!!!

I've not seen the notion anywhere stated that top four is a required nor poch has 50m to do so. I'd be amazed if he received anything like that and levy was clear. He wants the football to be rebranded and promote youth into the side and get the best out of the so called magnificent 7 in particular soldado lamela and paulinho. As much as I would love Shaw I cannot see that happening but Lovren would not surprise me and maybe Rodriguez..

Will be interesting to see how Paulinho adapts to the high-pressing approach MP will DEMAND from ALL of his players. To be fair to the Brazilian he DID seem to improve towards the back end of the season (with the West Ham game a notable exception).

Would still be EXTREMELY tempted to swap the Brazilian with a rising star Fabien Delph but I am also prepared to give the Brazilian the benefit of the doubt.

Will also be interest to see how the VERY talented Gylfi Sigurdsson fits into the Argentinians plans. The Icelandic international has struggled to hold down a REGULAR spot at Spurs since signing from Swansea, despite some impressive displays.

Sigurdsson had ALL the assets to become a REAL hero to the WHL faithful and looked to be on the way to doing that before he seemed to be blamed by AVB for the home defeat to West Ham last season.

The most interesting part of the Icelanders game under Mauricio is Gylfi ability to carry out the high-press the Pochettino deploys within all of his teams. Sigurdsson came from a Swansea that was renowned for using such tactics under Rodgers, and was also consistently called upon by Sherwood to execute the very same 'pressing style' in a number of games for Spurs last season.

Gylfi has BUNDLES of talent, and with the additional boost of having a manager that TRULY believes in his abilities, he is MORE than capable of reaching double figures in terms of goals, from midfield, which would be a HUGE boost for a club like Spurs.

Top player, and top pro, who deserves more than being a mere utility player at WHL. If he isn't granted the REALISTIC prospect of 1st team football, I think he should be sold rather than waste his talent on the bench for another year.

Players I would sell- Dawson, Ade, Falque, Livermore, Naughton, Holtby (depending on system used next year), Paulinho (if Levy can get between £22m-£25m for him) and perhaps Sigurdsson. estimated value:£35m- £55m+

Players I would buy - Delph (assuming Paulinho is sold), Lallana, Alberto Moreno/Felipe and Betenke/Morata. Estimated value:£60m

Promote to first team squad- Fredericks, Pritchard and Carroll.

Only time will tell whether this is the right appointment but I really do think that we have got the right man this time. The comments from the Southampton players should be a really good sign that he will encourage the players and allow them freedom to express themselves on the pitch rather than stifle them.
He is a known taskmaster and if some of the players do not like that, then I am sorry but good riddance. I agree that we had far too many injuries last season that did not seem to be picked up on the pitch and that was a clear sign for me that the training regime was simply failing. Pochettino can give the players triple training sessions for me because lets be honest, they do not have a bad life do they?
My only concern with Pochettino is that he has said in the past he would love to manager Real Madrid and I just hope that he doesn't jump ship before he gets us back where we belong.
I am excited by the appointment and will be interested to see who he may bring in. Lets also not forget that the last time we had an Argentinian influx, it didn't turn out too badly and if Poch ends up with knees going trembley as we head off to wembley, then bring it on and COME ON YOU SPURS!!!

Ramos - Absolutly agree that we are all entitled to our opinions. im not sure what you are saying in your 2nd paragraph but just so you know I dont ever get frustrated by your comments. In fact I sometimes agree with a lot of what you say but not all of it. Why do you find that unbelievable? And yes you do back up your arguements with a very impressive amount of...well something. I also hope the players will respond to MPs training methods and expectations, I think it is exactly what the team needs to build team spirit and unity. MP comes across as a nice guy but im sure that underneath there is a core of steel.

Completely off topic, just had a big night here watching the first state of origen match. Its the first of a three game series between Queensland and New South Wales and a fantastic spectacle in which the passion and pride shown in the honour of wearing the shirt cannot be matched in any sport. If you want to see character and guts and a never say die attitude then its something truely remarkable. If i could just put some of the courage and spirit mixed with the blood, sweat and tears that every player gives to the last second id send some to MP. There you go, something different. Good night.

Yes, it would be good to see some of this at Spurs and more importantly for England in the world cup!!

Added to that with the amount of players in midfield we have in regards to numbers;types of MIDs and quality/combinations we have I think any manager worth his weight should be able to improve the current crop with the exception of the necessity for a left wide player konopkaplaya or Rodriguez would fit the bill. Centre forward wise I'd be happy with either lukaku benteke Remy. Richards and milner could be useful free transfers!

The positions most in need of filling are left bk Shaw or Ashley Cole on a free and right CB Lovren or alderweild

You can tell Alan Brazil at Talksport is happy with the appointment of Pochettino. CONSTANTLY trying to rain on Spurs'/Maricio's parade with a whole host of veiled comments any time anyone says something positive about Spurs new Head Coach.

'I think Tim Sherwood could of done that'

'Where are they gonna finish with that squad though'

'It's going to be tough for Spurs to break into that top 4, and I can't see it'

'If Spurs had hired Diego Simone I would of thought this guy could be special '

' I think optimistic Spurs fan, Paul, is in the minority'

Even Robbie Fowler could smell the pessimism dripping off him.Listened to about 3/4 interviews of his today and the guy didn't have a good word to say about anything regarding Spurs.

But this is what happens when forums are INFECTED with COPIOUS amounts of negativity....It can spread, and spread quickly!!!

Even a few of the papers have picked up on it, as they use supporter forums to attempt to gauge, what they perceive to be, the overwhelming/overriding feeling surrounding a club.

Comments that are left on websites such as this, no matter how uneducated or ridiculous, become just another stick for the media, and outsiders, to use AGAINST Tottenham Hotspur.

    Food for thought, perhaps...

I think Mr Brazil talks a lot of rubbish to be honest anyway. He is trying to get a reaction and sadly a negative one but at the end of the day Pochettino hasn't even managed a game for Spurs yet. I know my negativity may not be everyone's cup of tea but I have at least always based it on actual things that have happened. I mean, Brazil's comment saying the current squad couldn't get in the top four is hilarious! Tim could do that he says...but he didn't!!!
If things go wrong then fair enough have your snipe then if you must for God's sake give Pochettino the time to develop and build His team in his image. Come on you Spurs!!!!
