completely agree vis-a-vis Ange's apathy from the sidelines. Everytime the camera cuts to him he's shaking his head in disbelief. no passion, no leadership.

Just watched Liverpool on match of day and they know how to defend but look at their front five.Nunez iota gackpo Sala Diaz ours Son Verner Johnson Solanke. One other. Now you see why we will never compete .We could with a better chairman have had Diaz but he was to tight again.Plus every Liverpool player is prepared to run all day unlike our prima Donna’s.Mamager knows what he is doing unlike ours

2 days before the transfer window opens and it seems any monies will be given to Ange to buy replacements. With his record so far who is happy with that. Some of the rumours look like we are going for loans of players who have not made it abroad after transfers from English clubs. It seems Tomorri is being allowed to go cheap from Italy and he could be a good buy?Who do we think we will get?z.?

Don’t agree ours aren’t willing to run all day. Maybe Johnson doesn’t but others all do. I’m sure running stats would back that up. Think kulu covers the most ground in the league?

you can’t say we get loads of injuries because he makes them run too much and then in another post say look at Liverpool running , we don’t run enough!

Could be the training???Liverpool do manage game time better and keep the ball to avoid the incessant desperate running back because we can’t retain possession.why are other teams fitter than us and quicker and more strong in the challenge??? I don’t know. Johnson gets a lot of stick on here for not defending but Son is worse and Maddison not great and Johnson is our leading scorer

You can’t compare our squad with Liverpool who have built a much deeper, stronger squad however if you do, the stats are not how you see them:

Goals - Liverpool top with 45, Spurs second with 41
Tackles - Spurs 8th with 341, Liverpool not in the top 10
    Passes - Spurs 4th, Liverpool 5th
    Possession - Spurs 2nd with 58%, Liverpool 4th with 56%

I can’t find the running stats but I’m pretty sure we would be right up there with the hardest working teams who cover the most ground.

Our biggest problem is not converting as many chances that we create as goals we are conceding. If we can get some defensive cover in January and get our players back we could have a good second half of the season.

Why are they top then .you can make stats suit any argument. The fact is they have better players and a better manager Nunez misses more chances than most but the other 4 don’t.Running is a waste if not done for a purpose and ball retention is good.

You have just answered your own question, they have a better squad of players. You raised running, possession and stats but don’t then accept the facts.
Our biggest problem is chance conversion (not creation) and conceding. If we took more chances that we create, we would score more than we concede but we don’t. This is because our squad is neither good or deep enough at the moment.

Difficult to be too critical of the 7th most expensive team in football when it is on course to score 80 plus goals in a season.

To be clear, our recent collapse in form has coincided with a rapid decline in our defensive numbers from the beginning of the year. Which has unsurprisingly dovetailed with the loss of our entire central defence. There is no mystery surrounding this.

Changing managers at present would be a mistake. A mistake that would result in not just a forfeit of all that’s been built these last 18 months but a forfeit of the remainder of the season. There is no magic pill for what is currently ailing us.

For now, things may indeed get worse before they get better, but the club needs to wear it and continue to make some effort to improve the level of the squad because it is still lacking even when at full strength.

Voices not seeing the wood from the trees.Since our wonder start of the first ten games our record is. Won 19 drawn 7 lost 21.yes we have had injuries but I don’t think our two centre halves were missing for all these47 games and I remember vast criticism for Romero being caught out at set pieces.I am not stupid and know we have been unlucky or stupid with the amount of injuries we have had but there are other factors .Ange is stubborn and won’t change when we had to to cover the injuries and I still think he is being outsmarted by managers who have sussed that no matter who plays centre half we leave so much space at the back to be punished. Then I question his teams selections son should have been dropped ages ago and maddison should play even if he does not defend as he should as he is the only player we have who can undo packed defences. Then we come to the coup de grace who kept Verner at the club. Why is Z Dorrington not given a go at centre half and gray in midfield. Which is what he is.We had problems last year with Van and his hamstrings but we let Phillips go on loan with no recall. We now have a window to buy some additions and we need at least 3 or 4 players but rumour has it the tight bald eagle has said only 25 million available. What will that buy 2 more teenagers. So I am not as optimistic as Posterboy and voice of reason.I genuinely want to be wrong as I love this club and have for 60 years but I just don’t see a happy ending

I don’t think it’s just optimism but realism. A lot of what you say be true but we won’t know if it works without giving it a fair try and the injuries definitely impact whether the long term strategy will be proved correct or not. I’m not saying we are Barcelona or he is Pep but when Barcelona were dominating they didn’t change to hoof ball if things were struggling, they kept going with a certain style

Barcelona are not a fair comparison because they had down times but they could defend.I wish Ange would accept that a set piece coach is needed.Look at the goals Arsenal score and the way they defend set pieces.Forest also have a defence that is so hard to break down.It is part of the game. The Double team we’re exciting to watch but don’t tell Norman and Mackay they had to leave massive gaps at the back to achieve it

Yeah but if you are going to compare us to Arsenal. Then as previously stated Arteta took a while to get going as well. And now may have got as close as they are going to get as Liverpool and Chelsea seem to be back!

I am comparing the attitude. to defending and I think you will find Arteta went to replacing defenders quickly.Do you think we will be where Arsenal were after 3 years next year we are miles away. Will we buy quality like Rice white Havertz and two of the best centre backs in the premiership.Rumour has it we have the massive 25 million to spend??By the way Arsenal do have a defence coach

Well we are there transfer window open and we are going to buy lots of players according to the press.Dream on.I see lots of cheap loans mentioned and one ridiculous one of Grealish. He is paid more than two spurs players combined. We must get a centre half before we play Liverpool but don’t hold your breath who would the posters like

    Who knew ,Preed’s a gooner:)
We have 2 of the best centre backs in the league, they happen to be injured. And I’m going to stop you right away before you start to say they aren’t quality, because you will be doing yourself an injustice!
Both are on the radar for top world clubs
At some stage you have to stop criticising everything and accept that some parts of our club and players are good and possibly great
We have had an « annus horribulus » and it’s going to continue until we get back to a partially full squad!

What an insult.Dont you read I have supported spurs for over 60 years.I agreee we have two good centre backs but they are not as good defensively as the Arsenal duo. I think Van dyke is the best centre half in the league but that does not make me a Liverpool. Fan.No player in the spurs side is great .We have some talented ones but great. No.You might also see that I have acknowledged our injuries but we are still allowed to criticise the tactics used.,I will take the put downs by people who are clinging to straws and just say that nobody would be happier to come on here and praise us when justified. We play Newcastle on Saturday and they have injuries to key defenders so that should even it up.Are you feeling confident???Do you look at other websites because I do and my comments are mild to what is being said elsewhere.I still remain a spurs fan And always will and fervently hope youoptimists have got it right but don’t put people down because there views are different to yours.Do you not think we could have coped better with the injuries if we had a Rice type holding in midfield. Our midfielders are good players but not strong enough and don’t say that makes me a gooner . I am just able to appreciate a better player than we have. The transfer window is open so let’s see what we get..There is a rumour Grealish what nonsense
