Anyone else woke up with the dread that we play later this evening?

Playing an awful Everton side flirting with relegation what could possibly go wrong...

I think we will sign at least 4 then if anyone else leaves, they will be replaced. With the debt, if you take the stadium debt out with a naming rights deal then we are not in a bad position at all given the impact of covid etc.

The most important thing is the next players we sign are actually half decent

It’s likely that Everton will have their best game of the season against us like most other teams that are struggling

I like the selection for today. Bergwijn, Moura and Reguilon can all come on and inject pace later on the game. Keep Royal as far away as possible

Just hope Ali doesn’t decide to show up as a super sub for Everton today

We need a few more signings like Kulu and Bentancur please…both have been magnificent today

Hojberg and Betancur were excellent tonight ! With a good midfield things are very different...

Don’t always agree with Thfc but today I do Kulu and Betancour both an improvement particularly Kulu who is only21.let’s not kid ourselves yet as we have United away next and as bad as they were against City they are better than this Everton side who will struggle to stay up..3 points onwards and upwards. No Winks wonderful

Two points away from our current plight .
Is it not good to see the Chelsea club having to cope without the mega bucks. Secondly Pochetino failed at the top table again last night do we really want to go back there

Seems like karma for Chelsea who have not followed any kind of FFP for the last 20 years. No sympathy at all for them and the reduction in funds they will have, might even it out for the other teams in the league (City and Newcastle excepted of course).

As for Poch, I dont think he can be blamed for the dreadful mistake by the best keeper in the world? They were the best side by a mile until that moment. I wouldn’t swap Poch for Conte but if Conte ever decided to leave I would have him back over almost anyone else (a few world class managers who we probably couldn’t get excluded).

Back to normal it’s only spurs as SirAlex used to say.Just realised watching Dier that he does not close down and try and block shots but he holds his hands behind his back and then turns away from the ball. Our defensive play really needs a massive overhaul.Great display from Ronaldo but our marking was atrocious. We had just as many chances to score more but our final ball is as usual left a lot to be desired. We have probably now almost guaranteed Arsenal 4 th place.

The one thing that bothers me and I would like other opinions is that we concede so many headed goals and nobody seem to take the responsibility .I like Romero but he does get out jumped a lot in the penalty area and I think he is drawn out to easily

  13. THFC Guest

I actually thought we played quite well. I’m answer to the headed goals question, IMO it’s because, as has been highlighted for a while, we don’t have CB’s that are good enough. We really need a CB and LCB to play with Romero.

United punished sloppy mistakes, several of which came from Regy, who, despite his pace going forward, simply isn’t a solid enough defender.

If Regy can be sold for £40m back to RM and if AM fancy paying £20m for Emerson, we should be able to get improvements in both those positions. If we can sell Sanchez and CCV, hopefully we can also pick up a couple of decent CB’s (De Vrij and De Ligt would be my choice).

THFC are you serious? If we can do this, if we can do that etc. You are talking about ENIC. Under ENIC we will always be 3-4 players short of where we would like to be. For every Kane and Son there is a Davies and Doherty. We struggle to sell the deadwood (aurier) because they are not good enough and we replace with deadwood (royal).

  15. THFC Guest

Yep, 100% serious….I do think we will move on the players we need to in the summer and I do think we will make better signings than in previous seasons.

Its quite clear we need to improve in a few positions so those players will go. There will probably be some players who go like Regy (no real loss if RM want him back) and Emerson (definitely no loss if AM want him).

Kulu and Bentancur are massive improvements on our previous recruitment and set the standard for the next window IMO.

  16. The less said about this game the better

We played well and deserved much better against one of the most expensive sides on Earth

United… as always… equal parts ass… equal parts class

Why did we deserve better??We can’t defend high balls and we don’t block shots we just hold hands behind back and turn away like Dier.We had numerous chances to open united up but the final ball was as usual rubbish.Davies lost the ball on at least 3 occasions when trying a one two near the united area.Because we have a lot of the ball does not mean we deserved to win .United looked more likely to score than us.Desperate when Winks is brought on

  18. Jose's Ghost Guest

    Rubbish

United were in a scramble throughout much of the match

One player... two world class strikes... and our left wingback being an utter buffoon on the other goal (who stops playing to signal the linesman these days?)

That was the game that Spurs didn't deserve to lose

I'm sorry for my previous post in French... ;-))

I totally agree. We may not deserve better than losing this match because we took 3 goals which were avoidable with better defense from Dier, Reguilon and Doherty but our game is clearly superior to that of united. The team have clearly progressed under Conte. Even if the results do not follow as we would like... On the other hand, I would like to understand the changes of Conte with the exit of Kulu in place of Son who aligned his 8th or 9th average or even bad match. Ok he scores from time to time but it's often thanks to Kane's genius... yesterday he was ghostly and it becomes worrying. If Lucas had to replace someone it was him and not Kulu!
