Not so long ago we had the chance to move within 2 of then League leaders Liverpool.

At points this season we've held a 10 point and 13 point lead over Arsenal & Utd. This has closed to 1 & 3 points with Chelsea propping up the rear 4 points behind.

In 16 days Arsenal have gained 9 points on us , if not for a penalty save they'd be above just let that sink in for a moment....

    To play -

    Spurs 61points
    Crystal Palace
    Liverpool
    Brighton
    Huddersfield
    Man City
    West Ham
    Bournemouth
    Everton

    Arsenal 60points
    Wolves
    Newcastle
    Everton
    Watford
    Crystal Palace
    Leicester
    Brighton
    Burnley

    Man Utd 58points
    Man City
    Watford
    Wolves
    West Ham Everton
    Chelsea
    Huddersfield
    Cardiff

    Chelsea 57points
    Everton
    Cardiff
    West Ham
    Liverpool
    Burnley
    Man Utd
    Watford
    Leicester

What an absolute disaster this would be but a rude awakening to all those that have had delusions of grandeur totally dismissing the fact that last few seasons the establishment has not really turned up and the even more laughable people that banged the we don't need to sign anyone we can't improve drum.

I'll give you 1 thing we definitely haven't improved you were right there.

And to think "Spursy" was supposed to be a thing of the past.

Looking at the fixtures left doesn't fill me with confidence once again a what could've been era blown by negligence.

I'm really worried because looking at the remaining fixtures it's Woolwich's to lose now due to there easy run in, Man Utd won't be far away either, Chelsea i think are out of it as they have problems as we know! we needed to beat Woolwich, Burnley and Saints to keep that gap, as going to Liverpool and Man City was always going to be tough and i think thats why Poch lost it at Burnley as he probably had a points total mapped out to get top 4 which should of included Burnley! unless by some miracle we take 4 points from the Liverpool and Man City games i think we are out of the top 4 and there is still West Ham to play aswell. Got to say the lack of investment(even not replacing Dembele) is astounding when we could be pushing on with the best manager we have had for years and actually achieving something or at least going forwards but no it's like Levy is doing everything in his power to stop us progressing and taking Poch for granted at the same time! what happened to the change of transfer policy that was supposed to happen when Poch kicked off and signed a new deal on the promise we were going to start to invest in our squad? Lewis and Levy are our hindrance as they do not care if we win anything or not as long as the bucks are rolling in with nothing spent they are happy and thats why we have so many average players at the club! our club is being used as a cash cow and nothing else, who wants NFL in our stadium, or sky walks etc? we are a football club FFS! i'm sorry unless we get new owners like Man City's or Chelseas we are going to be talking about nearly winning things in the next 10 years aswell and have to go along with the piss taking constantly! Poch has given Levy and Lewis enough hints now he wants backing but i fear Levy would rather let Poch walk than give him the funds he needs to keep him as he is so pig headed! i think it will be Europa in the new stadium next season unfortunately and there is only one person to blame for that and we know who! serves Levy right! it's going to be embarrassing to have that lovely world class stadium but where is the team to play in it? i wouldn't blame Poch for walking as it seems now he has had enough of not getting backed! we need new owners! Levy/Lewis Out!

So levy is now getting clobbered from all sides and quite rightly but I can not entirely let pochetino get away Scot free.He has not been strong enough and quick to tow the line when the team was scraping results even though we were playing badly.Althogh he has not been given the funds I believe he has had some and would not spend on players he thought were overpriced and those he has had a hand in don't exactly fill you with glee. For example Foyth Sanchez Aurier and I assume he agreed to sell Dembele with no replacements. Also his continued rotation has never given us a settled back four .Finally he doe not seem to know how to use Son when Kane is playing. Thus week is the first time I have seen him angry .its a pity it did it happen sooner

lazy mentality lack of concentration have to learn not to lose when games are not going your way need to kill teams when we are ahead if you are unable to convert chance after chance do not concede .

Here are my reasons for the defeat:
    1. Walker-Peters contributed to both So'ton goals. Not ready, although had a few good tackles in the 1st. Loan him out in the summer.
    2. Poch suspension. Spurs coaching staff missed a point at which physically tired MF players and mentally tired defenders needed to be substituted. Davies came on one goal against too late. Dele could not move being gassed and yet was out there. I think Jesus is no match to Poch when it comes to feeling how those on the pitch are doing. Mike Dean should be banned from New Stadium, what a POS...
    GOYS!!

Poch was in the stands , watching/communicating with Perez the entire time?
Imo under what has been chronic neglect by the board and a sell out acceptance from Poch he's become a busted flush.
Certain players have become so comfortable in their positions and comfortable in the knowledge that winning things doesn't matter that it's just human nature to lose that extra 10% effort/drive. As our mainly laboured turgid displays this season are proving.

Top4 is still in spurs hands winning all the remaining home games and getting a draw in the 3 away fixtures would be enough imo.
The problem is that the team has now become a reflection of the manager seeming too think they can get away with playing for 45mins and win games. MP has said he can't win trophies with these players and that Levy would have to find another magic man to accomplish trophy wins.
I can't see the point in some of his latest's comments i don't see how you raise morale by basically telling the players they are not good enough.
Even if backed i am not sure how MP would do, he is to flawed to become a serial winner, however, he could win a trophy or two at PSG not sure he would have the same success at RM though.
After 5 years if MP left i wouldn't be too down i do feel he has taken spurs as far as he can.

No, your thinking, Felon82, is typical for a supporter, while footballers think differently. They need to win for the different reasons that you do. Sometimes it co-insides, sometimes not. Presence of the manager at the sideline is usually working to keep players honest, true, but it wasn't the case. The team lost two most important players at once. It was able to persevere, yet it is catching up no matter what. Spurs are not playing well since LCFC win, i.e. over a month now.
They were all tired after last two games, so no extra effort could be excreted from them. I am talking about mental aspect of need to stay concentrated. That is why Dele looked so good being fresh. One or two players that could be purchased and are missing would not do dramatic difference, you would need 7-8 players of highest quality on the bench to allow club to cope, very much like MCFC does. I hope you realize it will not happen in foreseeable future.
Spurs are not "spursy". They simply aim too high for their position, which is not far from Everton and Newcastle. Those who do not or unable to try never fail. We dare.
Why are you worrying about Top 4? It is not a trophy or is it?

Spurporter if we're not really attempting to win Trophies in favour of the Top 4 then we damn well need to deliver Top 4 else it's failure on both fronts.
Pochettino has given it the presidence over Trophies.

I'm not one for this cheering being on the gravy train with regards to 'taking part' in the CL but as we sit on the cusp of opening the new stadium with a £600million bill to pay off already seemingly stopping us buying players or paying our better players going rate to not have the extra revenue CL brings to pay off this grotesque burden means we are right in the sh;t for the foreseeable which puts everything good about this current squad in jeopardy.

Well Liverpool didn't add 7 or 8 players to become title contenders despite finishing below us last year and 25 points or so behind champions City. They identified key areas that needed improving and paid top dollar for them. Also their manager has a default starting 11.. A notable spine to the team and a constant bk 5 when all fit. No rotation.

Is Spurporter really thinking that we should accept the poor performances because they are tired or doesn't he think that other clubs also are tired because of small squads like Southampton for example.Yes we need investment and although the new stadium has cost a fortune what is the point in it if we don't have a team to match.I believe there is money to buy in the transfer window but will need a manager with bottle and not veiled threats.Real Madrid have just scuppered one of poch outs and Solskar will scupper the other so I'm afraid that Zidane will be hunting Ericson andKane very soon and I believe we will be struggling to keep at least 5 of our better players

Oh, no... Liverpool are as thin as Spurs. Reds are lucky with injuries. No comparison to adversity Poch and lads gone through. Just only Dele injury would be equal to Van Dyke being out for them or Fernandinio for Citizens. Plus, if Klopp was suspended same way for the same offence Poch was, we might have had title decided by now. Bad example, mate. Just watch Spurs winning at Anfield. COYS!!!

No, we have to accept that that our manager, although talented, is not experienced enough (he had no idea how to manage from stands and was lost entirely). It is easier, though to let him gain that experience rather than rid of him at the time when Spurs absolutely cannot afford anything like that.
How many times any team won with manager suspended? Once? Well, Poch has the next game to win, then.

I and other like minded, eyes wide open fans, passionately declared that the 2018/19 season was a crossroads. A major, major time in the clubs history and we needed......must have invested in the squad and not just potential but class. Our seemingly small voice was unheeded in fact derided by the rose tinted spectacle brigade and here we are. No Cl next year will be a serious blow for a variety of reasons that are clear and obvious, not least of all player retention and recruitment. The very sad fact is, is that we only needed 2 or 3 quality players and I'm sure offloading some of our deadwood may have funded that investment in part.
All so 'Spursy' I'm so sad to say and once again we may well be the bridesmaid.
One final gripe, if I ever hear Poch saying that playing in the Europa creates a disadvantage, he need only look to see how clubs this season are just getting on with it.
The only disadvantage is the bloody lackadaisical attitude of our players.

Nice to see sensible posts from Bruski and Felon although I fear we are outnumbered by the pochetino can do no wrong brigade. To stress the point that is always thrown up that pochetino develops young talent I have just watched our under 19s get stuffed by porto in the last 16 of the European youth cup and we were awful and if this is the future we are in big trouble.what happened to Edwards who was the best thing since sliced bread? We really do need a fresh impetus but from where I don't know.Real Madrid will be on the prowl and probably will use the injury prone Bale as bait and I would not contemplate paying his wages for about 20 games a seasonal. Not that Levy would do anything so rash would he?

Two key players( Walker and Dembele) have left under Mp's reign with another two likely to follow(Toby and CE). Mp seems to like working with average players who are grateful to him. Players like Trippier and Dier are no better than squad players, however, Mp continues to treat them as 1st team quality.
Whatever happened with walker it was the start of the team decline, Mp caused that by making out trippier was an upgrade, which he wasn't and never was. I remember Toby saying he was surprised spurs would sell walker as he is a top player.

How do you replace toby for 25m?
Spurs may get 60m for CE as he only has one year left so with 85m may be able to buy decent replacements. However, that's just to stand still.

I do not view MP as a Invincible Savior or Irreplaceable. Simply, if Spurs, as they seem, to follow Arsenal footsteps, Poch may be as good for them as Wenger was in the long run. For that Spurs must keep him. He will win some trophies, mostly FA Cups, too.
