With all eyes on Brazil, Mauricio Pochettino and the Spurs backroom staff have been busy peering through the great shop window of the summer transfer market in an attempt to find a hidden gem.

Pochettino is likely to revamp the Spurs side, waving goodbye to players who do not make it into his plans and peering lovingly at Daniel Levy as the chairman ponders over his padlocked wallet.

The Argentine will no doubt be allowed some funds this summer, with TV rights and Europa League qualification providing revenue from a lacklustre season of transition. And as usual with any new manager moving from Premier League club to Premier League club, his old side are braced for a raid on the talent of the squad.

    LallaNO
That, of course, starts with headline marker Adam Lallana. Pochettino brought the best out of the talented winger, earning him an England call-up and undoubtedly an appearance at some point in Brazil.

Lallana has been a dead cert to join Liverpool after the Reds’ successful season, plus the £26-year-old’s preference seems to be Merseyside. He could follow Rickie Lambert north as £25million is on the table from Brendan Rodgers.

However the pull of his former coach Pochettino could be too strong for Lallana, who scored 10 goals in all competitions last season. Yet recently appointed Saint boss Ronald Koeman is not giving up without a fight –

“Lallana's been here long enough, we've brought him to this level and we feel that perhaps he should give it a little bit longer. Koeman said.

"Anybody seriously considering coming for our players are going to have to think very significantly about the size of the fee. If we do take money it will be because it's the right amount and it enables us to improve the team and move forward.

"If players leave, it will be because we believe it is right for the club.”

    Deadwood for dead good?
Another must on Pochettino’s list will be a left-back, courtesy of the questionable form of Danny Rose last season. Top of that list so far this window has been Sevilla’s Albert Moreno.

Just like Lallana, Spurs’ greatest competition for the player has come from Anfield, who again have been the first to table an offer. Their bid of £14.5million plus a loan move for youngster Suso could be trumped by Spurs’ offer, which sounds more like a deal you’d make for a Panini football sticker.

Spain veteran Roberto Soldado and troubled midfielder Etienne Capoue are supposedly available to be loaned to the La Liga side, along with a £16million payday has been reported as Tottenham’s “swapsie” for the Spaniard, who was included in Vicente del Bosque’s 30 man squad before being left out at the final stage.

The deal would be worth a combined a staggering £51.5million taking into account the fees Spurs paid for the duo just last summer.

    Target chased by Éver-ton
Another deal that has rumbled on, but so far has not progressed past the “murmurings” stage, is a move for Valencia’s out-of-favour midfielder Éver Banega.

Banega has been on loan at Newell Old Boys this season, making 19 appearances and a further 16 with his parent club. A box-to-box centre midfielder, Banega has an impressive 24 Argentina caps but has been left out of the last two World Cups.

After initial speculation, all talk of Banega coming to the Premier League began to die down before a reported £6million bid from Everton sparked suitors Spurs, Manchester United and Arsenal into life.

"We have had immense interest in the Argentinian international.” Said Banega’s agent.

"I can confirm I am personally speaking to two top clubs who have expressed real intent in capturing the player.

"He is a top quality player and he is still only 25 and I believe he would be a major success in the Premier League."

And finally… feint-hearted look away now

Tottenham Hotspur have been linked with a move for Sunderland defender John O’Shea.

Do not adjust your sets, or ring up Specsavers. You read that correctly. The veteran centre-half has been vetted as a suitable replacement for captain Michael Dawson, who has been told he can leave the club this summer with a host of Premier League sides interested.

O’Shea was at Man United for 12 years before moving to Sunderland, where he has made 111 appearances, and has been described by The Telegraph as a “versatile defender” due to his ability to play at centre-half, either full-back or midfield.

£3million has been the quoted price for the 33-year-old.

It feels like Ryan Nelsen all over again.

Lukaku and Moreno would do for me. we dont need a revamp, just a tweak in a few areas. LB a striker and maybe a CB.

Not sure any of these story's have any legs apart from maybe banega where I personally believe we are well stocked already! Moreno is a little overpriced for us at this moment in time and to offer soldado at 26m makeweight is ridiculous at his age. If he is going needs to be sold to recoup as much of the money outlayed possible not letting his tag depreciate further after a years loan. Lallana massively overpriced and little room for him to improve and zero pace and sell on value. O'Shea well not even gonna give that nonsense story anything worth writing about.
