Lennon now staying, Townsend ‘prepared’ to leave and Spurs in final swing for Rodriguez

Spurs are going to give the Jay Rodriguez transfer negotiations one last shot.

A deal worth £14million plus England winger Andros Townsend is on the table as Daniel Levy’s final “take it or leave it” deal with the South Coast club, who have shown extensive interest in signing the 23-year-old, according to Independent.

Ronald Koeman’s side has been depleted this summer, leaving him with a large transfer kitty to splash out. That was shown last week as an £11million offer was rebuffed only to be followed up by a cheeky £12million bid immediately after.

Now Spurs looks set to use Townsend as bait to capture their own target, who Southampton have been adamant they will not sell.

Rodriguez managed an impressive 15 league goals last season before picking up a season-ending injury which also saw him miss the World Cup, and former boss Mauricio Pochettino is keen to link up with the 25-year-old.

And Townsend now looks to most likely departure this Deadline Day as a deal between Spurs and QPR to bring in Aaron Lennon looks like a non-starter after initial optimism.

Lennon is out of favour at Spurs and looked likely to join up with former boss Harry Redknapp at Rangers in a permanent deal, while Brazilian midfielder Sandro could also join on loan.

While the latter still looks set to go ahead, Lennon will more than likely stay put at Spurs after Jeremy Wilson of The Telegraph tweeted:
