Isn't it all about the end product, or goals as you put it when comparing two completely different types of players. Isn't that what you were saying?

As i have said both Modric and Eriksens duties as play makers are to create and assist with the added bonus of goals, at no stage have i said Modric is rubbish quite the opposite in fact, what i have said is that Eriksen delivers when it comes to end product that wins games with stats to back it up.
A player of Modrics ability should not be hiding behind the DMs taking the ball off the centre halfs toes and playing pretty football in totally undangerous areas especially when we needed more impotous going forward but he wasnt willing to take that responsibility as its more difficult.
This is where Eriksens worth as a PLAYMAKER is better than Modrics.

Its 0-0 and you need 3 points what do you want the guy knitting play in his own half or the guy pulling the strings in the danger areas???

Eriksen is way more effective than Modric when it comes to the buisness side of results

And if Modric is such a deep lying playmaker what was Alonso playing Sweeper?

We used to play with parker and sandro holding, bale left vdv right and Modric in the centre regularly. In a formation like that he is/was taking the easy option hiding behind the dms playin safe when he shouldv been conducting play in the centre up top, this is where Eriksen is better

There were other goalscorers in that Spurs side. VdV, Defoe, Bale. This spurs side, much as I hate to say it, depends on Eriksen and Kane's contributions. Modric was and is different class, Eriksen is (right now) a standout player in a transitional side.

By this analysis, Adebayor is a better player this season than Lloris.
Modrić made the whole team play football, even the likes of Palacios, BAE, Hutton and Scott Parker started looking like they could play football when inspired by Luka. The same cannot be said yet of Eriksen.
Too many fans forget the player that splits open the opposition defence with a pass to a player who then plays an easy pass to a striker who taps in for the goal - the latter pair get on the statistic sheet, but the brilliance is all from the former.

Intelligent comment Jonny, both Eriksen and Modric are PLAYMAKERS , 1 Chooses to influence the game where it matters the other chose to play behind the DMs.

Choose to because its easier or because he didnt possess the same ability? Its 1 of the 2, either way id rather have Eriksen playing and winning games for us than Modric playing well in totally inaffective areas.

I genuinely cannot understand why certain Spurs fans cannot accept praise for a current player. Yes Modric was and is a fantastic footballer, nobody has stated otherwise. But for the playmaker midfielder that he was/is he rarely scored goals. There isnt a Spurs fan around that would not take Modric back to play in the centre of our midfield but he left and the playmaker midfielder we now have scores more goals....thats the only debate, which isnt a debate...its a fact. Yes we would love both but lets be honest, would Modric be that great without players like Bale and VDV to feed?

Lol .. Apples + Oranges lads .. Modric was best player we had for the last 10 years i.m.o .. Hopefully will be able to say the same about Erikson some day .. Completly diff players . wish they were both here ..

'Playmaker' covers a multitude of sins - they are different players who played/are playing different positions. If they were/are both 'the playmaker' then why we were playing much better football and getting more points in the Modrić era than we are now (we were average yesterday and Kane had very little service inside the box)?
Eriksen can be good (in the old VDV role - not the same position as Modrić) but he still needs to maintain that form and improve certain aspects of his game, just as Modrić improved in his time at Spurs.
Comparing the two is like comparing chalk and cheese, or Adebayor and Lloris.

Too right mate. Don't think I've seen a better creative player in our ranks in recent times. Completely dictated the way we played. If it wasn't assists it was the key passes, allowed everyone else to play and always looked forwards. His contribution didn't shine on paper but the team were better with him in the side, he raised everyone else and dictated games. Comparing Modric with Eriksen is unfair. Like comparing Eriksen to Mason, or Modric to Bale. Different players with different contributions. Love Eriksen and he's the most gifted player in our ranks but i'd still have to say Modric is a better player (Which is no insult to Christian). Think Luka is the best in the world at what he does, don't think you can say that about Eriksen.

Sorry, but do you want me to sit down and not write articles that may upset people? Do you wan us to write positive articles only. Do you want us to just write happy clappy articles?
Next time, felon should just say Spurs are brilliant and let people like you say, yes they are!!!
Ad rich, let's see you write an article shall we?
Most articles will be divisive because we all have different opinions! You have argued against your own argument!!
The point of the article, yet again, is about Eriksen versus Modric when modric was at Spurs!!!
Read the bloody article for goodness sake. It at no point says Eriksen is better than modric NOW. It compares them ....... In fact no. If you cannot be arsed to read the article and then make comments that prove you have made assumptions, maybe don't comment at all.
Read the article and comment on what has been said, not what you think had been said.

There were better players around Modric as has already been said which makes his poor goal and assist tally even worse, last season Eriksen won us loads of points dragging a team in transition with manager upheaval and new players to a very respectable 69 point finish only bettered once in the Modric era. Which is/was much more of a feat.
Again this season if it wasnt for Eriksen wed be far from where we are now so he is a player that makes things happen, whats the point of dictating play, controlling tempo and knitting pretty passing together if your going nowhere with it? ( The very thing Dembele gets pelters for )
End Product Wins games, Points etc
And when it comes to end product Eriksen wins hands down doing more in a poorer team.
If you had read the original post correctly i explained the dynamic of the team had to change because the void Modric left, now that it has changed our playmaker Eriksen is the heartbeat of the side and is an upgrade on Modric because he delivers where it counts.

Modric in the champions league final was awesome, but the article is not about that which again proves that so many people do not read the article.

Well i read one post that said Erikson is world class because he's the hub of an international side .. That is absolute horse s**t of a statement .. By that reckoning the best player on every international side is world class .. Now maybe i don't have the intellectual capabilities to read a post but i wouldn't be too surprised by that .. I wouldn't be the sharpest tool in the box by any means , but you have to play the cards your dealt ......

Fair point but I was talking about the original article. Some of the comments about the authors article don't even relate to what he has said. To assume makes an ass of u and me.

I think im gonna be the first to say, great article. Yes, it's divided opinion, but that's no bad thing. I hate seeing people slag off a blogger, too - everyone has their own opinions.

Josh b, well said!!! Disagree with the blogger, fine but to complain that it divides opinion is laughable. Next they will be saying that politicians divide opinion. No **** Sherlock.

what constitutes as world class then?

Eriksen is the best player in his national side, and guess what he scores and assists at international level aswell, hes no plum with a cap and considering his age he is a top player.

Has more goals than Silva, Hazard, Mata, Fabregas same as Rooney in the league this year so far are these not World Class players?
