Following a transfer away from Tottenham breaking down on transfer deadline day, Emmanuel Adebayor’s potential role against Arsenal in today’s North London Derby was always going to be interesting.

However, it appears that the Togolese forward could well be on the sidelines not only for the clash at White Hart Lane today but for the rest of the season.

The Mirror are this morning reporting that Adebayor will not be included in Mauricio Pochettino’s matchday squad for the game and could well be frozen out in the reserves for the rest of 2014-15.

The Togolese attacker was reportedly close to sealing a switch to West Ham, but Daniel Levy blocked the potential move due to the rivalry between the sides and the Hammers fighting for European qualification.

It is said that Stoke, QPR, West Brom and Crystal Palace were also interested in signing Adebayor, but the centre forward did not want to move to any of these sides.

In truth, Adebayor was always unlikely to play against the Gunners given the essential partnership in attack between Harry Kane and Christian Eriksen.

With Mousa Dembele playing well recently as a number ten and both Nacer Chadli and Erik Lamela fit to feature, a place on the bench was the best Adebayor could reasonably have hoped for.

However, with Roberto Soldado struggling badly with confidence issues and Adebayor potentially facing his old club, having the Togolese on the bench could well be an astute move by Poch.

We have seen that Adebayor is best when he has a point to prove and with most of us turning our backs on the striker, he is something of a wounded animal - which could play into Spurs’hands.

    Chadli

Meanwhile, Nacer Chadli has stoked a bit of venom ahead of the clash with the Gunners by provoking the opposition fans on Twitter.

The Belgium international scored Spurs’goal at the Emirates Stadium earlier this season in a 1-1 draw and took to social media to fan the flames ahead of today’s fixture.

The message was retweeted by 4,000 people and favoured by 3,600.

Chadli is in the running for a starting berth in Pochettino’s XI today but it will depend on the potential use of Dembele as to where and if the former Twente star starts.

One way or the other the atmosphere is set to be electric at the Lane today and Spurs should be confident of recording all three points…..COYS

Well if Adebayor is ever to win the fans back it would be to score against the Scum.
Cant see it happening though as you need to apply effort in danger areas to score goals something that Ade seems to have forgotten how to do.
