    You couldn't make it up!!

Benteke..... Belgium.... thats about it. needs to get back to his best very quickly.......can't see it happening (especially if he can't do it with a fairly productive Palace midfield and wide players)

Rudiger...... JM must be hoping that he can shine in our defence before we are allowed back in the stadium!!

last ditch panic signings is an understatement

I'm not sure what I've done to deserve a namecheck, Mr Ghost - VAR is one of the few things I don't recall fulminating about, and I must admit that I've always favoured the 'handball = penalty' equation, because intent can only be clear in the mind of the offender, not the referee or anyone else. We should have been well out of sight before half-time, let alone added-time, and failing to take our chances seems to have been a Spurs failing for as long as I can remember, 2016/17, our annus mirabilis apart.
As for Mourinho's current standing at Spurs, I continue to be in the 'give him time' camp, and continue to feel genuinely sorry for him - I don't think he understood what he was taking-on, and even £15 million (or is it merely £13 million?) probably won't completely offset the loss of face if he ultimately fails at Spurs - even with all that dosh in it, his purse would still be trash, if Shakespeare can be believed.

6 days to go and the panic buys are starting to happen.Benteke ??really.Cant see Chelsea selling Rudiger to us and we are still offering half the price Milan want for skriniar. When did Benteke last score.I expect us to be looking at championship players as their window is for a few more days.Just think if we had taken a chance last window we could have had Grealish or Fernandez instead of ndombele

Do you know when he first burst on the scene at Villa I thought he was awesome and was always banging his drum, how wrong I was. No Never!

If we sign Benteke & Rudiger and not Skriniar and any forward in world football other than Benteke it will ruin any other signings we have made. Benteke couldn’t hit a cows arse with a banjo and Rudiger is the German Sanchez

Why does Lamela work so hard to win the ball and then hang on to it till he loses it.if he could see a pass he might be useful

Oh joy unfounded we have shut Lampard and his boys up .I have said that I would give Mourino credit when he earns it and today at half time he has inspired a second half performance that I didn’t see coming.Still some performances that did not inspire ie gedson.Bad first half for Bergwin but much improved second half.Reguillon was obviously nervous to start and gave away the goal but what a recovery afterwards and there is no doubt he is an upgrade on Davies.Lamela still has talent if only he knew when to release the ball and no one can doubt his fight. Finally ndombele and Hojbjerg played to their potential. What was Dier doing leaving the pitch???Come on Levy a centre half and centre forward this week and maybe I will have hope rekindled

In first period Spurs also played well. The conceded was a rare kind of shot. Given that JM assembled mostly some marginal and some ready to be sold players, the group was quite impressive against full strength Blues. Spurs were a better team all around and deservingly moved to 3rd round. COYS!!!

  10. Jose's Ghost Guest

Apologies Cheshuntboy it was a reference to your view that the previous manager always got what he thoroughly deserved... or in fact a lot more! You have disarmed me with your politeness though so I will discontinue with that line of thought.

As for Jose... he is a very entertaining manager... in front of a microphone (he is certainly daring enough for the club in that sense). I do not like that he does not like the ball... who goes to a football match to watch the opposition knock it around all day? But if his style creates more chances than our opponents... and achieves the desired result... then I can live with that for now.

There are plenty examples of Jose's ego getting the better of him when it comes to his own players... but I do believe he knows what a footballer looks like for the most part and understood well the squad he was inheriting. Because regardless of the recent past we still have plenty of good players... I certainly am not one of those that subscribes to the ridiculous theory that we need to 'sell the lot of them.'

Last night was all JM that was team which had belief and metal.
We were mentally stronger than Chelsea and I'm hoping a gritty win like that over the scum can give us the lift we really need especially after the robbery Vs Newcastle where we played so well.

This team is going in the right direction , get Reg n Doherty on each flank , N'Dombele is looking better every game n definitely has talent then once Son Kane n Bale are playing we are starting to look like a balanced side with purpose again.

We still need investment in this side tho a CB and Striker are a must plus a quality playmaker

I thought it was a bull in the fanny with a bag of rice.....and I had to clear that up ..... from an old Frank Sinatra live album...thought we played really well last night, plus a set of penalties to die for...

Well from being the last man on my list to be our manager, to not even being on the list, to the man who turned last night around in the most spectacular way, this was Jose’s night. There have been signs in the Amazon material that he’s getting the culture to change and if last night was anything to go by, it was a real turning point in my view of JM.

Let’s be clear - we always lose these sort of games - always, as in very Sprursy. Well we didn’t. Everyone worked their socks off, Ndombele was cream crackered, but we delivered a killer blow to Lampard last night - and with five of the sweetest penalties you will ever see..... and what a debut from Reggie.....get in!

    COYS

Even tho we are the only team on this planet that only has one striker there is still no way we are in for Benteke.
Well played by Jose against Chavs, good game and good entertainment on and off pitch.

Strong rumour that we are in for Vinícius on loan from Benfica Who is definitely an up grade on Benteke and we are still chasing centre half.If both come off then Levy has changed his spots. These hopefully will upgrade our squad and then we can really judge Mourino.Still some dross to unload from the payroll though but despite the criticism of Lamela I would keep because he will fight his corner and is still a good squad player.I know Felon won’t agree about lamela

For the 1st time in a long time I see players playing for each other again, a team spirit building and an identity forming.
Get everyone fit and the incoming striker vivicius then we can talk about style and judge.
What JM has done in a very quick time is turn a side around that was falling apart.

Great to see keep up the good work by beating Utd

    I'm interested in JM.
I mean interested in how his mind works. how his man management works.
NDombele..... Dele..... and the rest... are hopefully beginning to understand what top managers expect of every player. And what top players need to do individually and as a team and as a squad.

I am still not a big JM fan but his firm stance and working methods look to be working on the payers and DL

I think at the end of last season he might have thought wtf have I done coming here.
But he hasn't bottled the challenge which is nice to see.

He might even move up in my estimation.....we shall see

As I’ve said on here and elsewhere JM was bottom of my list when Poch went, then in the early games he didn’t even make the list.

Fast forward, having watched his approach on All Or Nothing, then seeing the changes in attitude, the player performances, the green shoots of recovery for Dele and Ndombele running TIL he dropped, Bale coming and the other additions, I’m gonna eat humble pie.....plus credit to DL as well (as long as the centre back arrives)....

Next a big test at Man U where we’ve struggled in recent times, Moura’s game apart - so come on Jose win this and I will really start to believe.......COYS.

I'm a massive fan of Jose. The only man to get the better for long periods of fergie. Still think if he's given full control of transfers, a good budget and allowed control of the dressing room hence the situation with alli then I still think he's world class. If you make the mistake United did with pogba and let cliques form with the likes of lingard pogba rashford your asking for trouble. It looks like levy is backing Jose with money and support.
The way he has juggled his squad thru this fixture congestion has been a thing of great beauty to be admired. The way he's turning round ndombele fantastic. Alli is been given the same platform its down to him whether he does a pogba or an ndombele now. If he wants to do the former then I've no problem to sell for 40m or so as long as Jose is given them funds. We've seen the pull of Jose this window and we've seen that he has the balls to demand more from levy.
If we can move on gazza CCV Rose foyth Clarke sessagnon this window and bring in a pacy left centre half then great. Also would still sell serge and replace aarons but maybe time against us on that one.
That ludicrous penalty last Sunday spoilt what would have been a really ood start to start of season.
