    I agree.

What I'd like to see is similar amount of options that an old Man U team had:
-Giggs on one wing deadly on the counter against teams pressing up too high
-Beckham on the other wing with pinpoint crosses against teams dropping off
-Scholes in the centre against teams trying to stop the attacks from the wings
Defending against Spurs is now too easy, all too predictable in attack.

I like the 3-5-2 and the 4-3-3 formations, Spurs might have been trying to get a squad suitable for 4-2-3-1 formation but I honestly can't tell for sure. If the recruitment was for 4-2-3-1 then at least there was a plan but the recruitment-plan was then badly executed.

What we have is a group of players for which there isn't even one single formation Spurs could play where every player would play in his preferred position. Unbalanced, due to poor recruitment which possibly might be due to lacking a preferred formation.

Oh, no. ManCity is the only club that buys players per manager's tactical vision. As a result, they get the performers that almost never fail to impress and rarely would need to be sold subsequently. All other EPL clubs, including giants like Pool or MU, buy bulk, then see what sticks and eventually sell those who do not fit the team for various reasons. The difference between the minnows and big fish is just the price bracket they do shopping at.
Levy doesn't know much about prospective player qualities, but he is very disciplined with respect to price limits and do not delegate that attention to anyone. He rid of Paul Mitchell, an architect of Spurs recruitment success under Poch, for his desire to violate Levy's perceived price bracket. The real reason why Spurs didn't buy anyone for two windows in the row was not Levy's stinginess, per se, but the fact that he was not available for transfer market job and at the same time didn't trust anyone else to do it. Once Levy got back into transfer market business, he was a year behind, he lost the sense of proper pricing discipline and, essentially didn't know what he was doing. That is how Spurs lost Bruno Fernandez, Grelish and other players that were adequate replacements to departed Dembele, Eriksen, Wanyama, etc. So, regardless of the above his average last summer, Levy ultimately did a terrible job as a Spurs recruiter and the fact that he has done admirably, as the club chairman is a lame excuse for his recruitment failures. The club needs Levy out of player personnel business and be focused on many other things THFC need.

It seems that I am assigned the duty/pleasure of creating match-threads :p

    A reverse of this fixture:

The Newcastle striker and record-signing Joelinton scored against a soft Spurs-defence. Seeing how he scored made me concerned for the season. The number of goals he scored since in the league is 1 (one), he appears benched now so all in all maybe allowing him the space and time to attempt to score was a calculated risk. Or, more likely, the Spurs defence was simply just bad.

It will be interesting to see Bentaleb, I have the impression that he was sold as a disruptive influence and/or un-coachable. Young, good but arrogant and a couple of mistakes in him is how I remember him. Now he is not as young so maybe something else changed as well.

Starting line-up for me is the same as the one in the NLD. The midfield looked tired for periods of that match so maybe some rotations or earlier substitutions.

This tie may be the last chance to beat Magpies before Pochettino takes 'em over. Who knows what it will be like then. Kane could be wearing black stripes next time.

    Aurier-Tobi-Sanchez-Davies
    Sissocco-Winks
    Lucas-Steve-Son
    Kane

    COYS!!!

Kane won't go to Newcastle, but City need an Aguero replacement and as a bonus he'd get big money there.....

I think it's more likely he'll go to Man Utd.
JM still has an okay relationship there so we may get one or two coming to us.
from.. .... Martial.... Matic..... Shaw (even though he gave him a hard time)... Bailly (who I don't rate).

I think JM will go for that rather than Levy keeping most of the money

Not sure about Aurier. Sometimes football let grief to go away for awhile, sometimes not.
As to NUFC, they will supplant City, if the deal goes through. No one knew about blue side of Manchester even 10 years ago. If they need a striker, and they do, Lewandovski is the only one on Kane level, but not for sale, unlike Harry.

Am I the only 1 who thinks Tanganga is massively overated because of how shite the rest of defence has been?
He's never a RB or LB and isn't particularly dominant or quick as a CB.

I'm reserving proper judgement at this point would be nice to be proven completely wrong (for once;))

He has shown glimpses of being a monster yet also some questionable decisions and positions which I think are due to his age. I absolutely do not think he is a RB or LB but as you have said, that demonstrates how poor those players are.

I think I’m a couple of years, he could be a decent Davinson Sanchez, just needs to get some composure and work on timings and positioning to cover as his speed won’t always be enough.

Strange night.aurier very brave to play even though he wasResponsible for Newcastle goal but can be forgiven in the circumstances.Moura gave best 60 mins for him for a long while in defensive cover but still his final ball is missing. When he was replaced by bergwin one great cross for goal but defensively no where near as good defensively as Moura.Lamela spent 20 minutes giving the ball away and then produces a magnificent run to create third goal.If we had someone with the passing ability of Shelley it would make life so much easier for the strikers

What a strange night....we play pretty poorly but manage to get a result again. Like him or not, he is getting results that seem impossible based on performances.
I hate watching teams like Newcastle dominate us on a shot count but that being said to get 3 points again given the performance at this stage in the season is good going especially as other results are being kind.
What is great to see was the shift in formation which adjusted the game. Credit where credit is due to JM for that.
I am still convinced we will be playing this type of football no matter who we sign next season but if JM gets our first trophy it raises the question, what will I think about him then?
It’s a tough one, grind results and actually have chance at winning something even though we are terrible to watch or hope someone else comes in and improves performances and playing style but maybe go another season without winning anything?
Hmmmm...great result tonight, next to try and beat Leicester.
    Oh and St Totteringham’s day......bahahahahaha

The counter attacking style can only become successful once you have midfield players who can transition play from recovering balls and moving it on thru the lines to the front men. A couple of counters also broke down between kane and son which is disappointing. I don't think moura bergwjin lamela are of the quality necessary to creating a quality front 3 required personally. Werner would have been perfect. The plan is to drop off in a medium block and turn the ball over quickly. It's not quite working but being worked on. Counter attack football when done correctly is very entertaining. United arsenal very good sides. Leicester likewise. Its about quality of players rather than style. Imo.

Who do you think we are? MCFC? JM would also keep LoCelso and Steve. They are the top 4+1cup material.
