At least we turned it round thanks to a lucky own goal and Lamela coming on and winning the ball and setting up son to feed Kane. But don’t let that fool you.Ali and Moura were so bad again.I personally don’t get Moura and don’t understand why two successive managers rate him.One fantastic game in two years not enough.Bergwin did more in the last 20 mins than Moura in the rest of the game.At least Dier looked okay and decelso getting good game time.Surely the last 10 mins was made for ndombele instead of Winks

Alli needs to be sold , he needs to be the big(ish) money player to reinvest into this squad (which is needed badly).
LoCelso was a worthy MOTM, good to see Kane getting on to things especially the score sheet.
Other than 3 points n beating the pikies it was rather bland for the most part.
Hopefully we can build on the 3 points.

How much would alli be worth at present though. 30 to 40m max. He really struggles with his back to goal no ability to hold up play or link up. Needs to start getting ball on the half turn and making 3rd man runs into the box. Problem being this team is slowly gearing into the 433 system poch was implementing with a no4 pivot and 2 no8s either side of that pivot. Lo celso gets better and better and has that left side is his own. Sissoko currently holding the other spot. Again don't see the obsession with ndombele to come back in just now. Winks brought on to see a game out. I can't see alli playing as a box to box 8 so I can see the logic In selling likewise moura if the money is recirculating in the side.

With no fans on the stands then it still feels like practice and at times it seems like the players are feeling the same.

Good to see corner-taking has improved. In the previous season then it seemed that most corners never made it past the first man. The goal might have been lucky but at least some of the luck was created by the corner getting into the danger area and players attacking the ball.

Lo Celso looks really good, Bergwijn as well. Aurier has improved a lot this year and the defence looked better than it has for a long time. Dier took charge, maybe that is why he is playing instead of somebody else. Sissoko was better than against Man U.

& even though the goal didn't stand it was nice to see that the focus was kept on during the end of the first half.

    Thoughts...

    - The lack of fans and sub-standard fitness levels make for a painful watch

    - Sanchez, Davies, Dele not really good enough. Haven’t seen Dele deliver a decent performance all season. Where has that top player gone. Moura - must do better otherwise away if there is a market. I’d play Jan at left back.

    - Ok from Dier, Sissoko, Son. Not sure about Aurier, fine when he gets on the ball, but 30 yards away from everybody out on the right is like playing with 10 - think I’m a no.

    - Kane a few good signs, just a few. Got better second half.

    - Lo Celso a standout MOTM and capable of developing into a key man for us. Capable of more than Eriksen or Modric delivered and being left footed really helps the teams balance.

A win at the Blades would set a good trend.

  6. Can’t say I agree with all of this but a very nice summation nevertheless Bazza

But are you throwing dear Luka under the bus? Ballon d’Or winner my friend... Lo Celso has no right to even scratch his balls

For me Modric did all his best work after he moved to Madrid. Based on what I’ve seen so far, Lo Celso has the ability to do better for us than Luca. And if Mourinho unlocks Ndombele’s box, we can see the two of them operating in midfield for us.

  8. Jose's Ghost Guest

Now that would be an excellent midfield but I think that ship has sailed if Jose's history tells us anything. Kevin de Bruyne anyone? Ndombele will be a star unfortunately not at Spurs... not while Jose is in charge.

Slightly more attacking line-up than I expected :)
    https://www.bbc.com/sport/football/52072984
    **
Tottenham XI: Lloris, Aurier, Sanchez, Dier, Davies, Sissoko, Lo Celso, Lucas Moura, Bergwijn, Kane, Son.

Subs: Alderweireld, Vertonghen, Winks, Lamela, Alli, Gazzaniga, Ndombele, Skipp, Fernandes.
    **

Maybe it will be more of a back three against the two Sheffield U attackers and Dier moves up to win midfield battles? Or a back four against the two attackers?

Another shambolic first half and another inexplicable Var.Please get Moura off and Lamela on.Another brain fart of defending .We have been the only team in it but once again we don’t have anybody who can put in a good final ball.Oh for Fernandes oh sorry we let the mancs buy him

**** defending. **** defending. **** defending. Would it have been different if the sending off of Norwood would have happened? Doesn't matter, **** defending.

Where do I start after another embarrassing performance.I wanted pochetino gone because we had become so average but I am afraid Mourino has now taken us to a new level of incompetence. It is shocking to admit our only defender who understands defending is Dier and he is only average. Is there another team in the division that has so much possessionwith no end product. Can someoneplease come on here and explain to me what Moura brings to the team because I have no idea.I think the only players worth keeping are Kane decelso ndombele son and bergwin. But I suspect some of these will want out when they realise we are only going to sign cheapos and loans. We should get rid of Mourino now and give somebody a chance to rebuild.Today we produced one killer pass which was by ndombele although Kane was offside and he is not good enough according to Mourino.Whatever Levy decides to do please don’t go for the wonder boy at Bournemouth as he is vastly over rated .I am not going to watch the rest of our games and will concentrate on watching the rest of the league even the arsenal who are far more entertaining than us.IAm dreading the derby.

Good God , remember when I said if you don't challenge the players we've got they'll stagnate and go backwards?
Was told they'd all only get better and didn't need players to sit on the bench.....
There's not a single player that's improved since 16/17 , there's not been a single player upgrade anywhere.
There's been a slow death of what was a good side phased out by age/neglect for inferior replacements.
That whole defence is a joke, the midfield lacks quality and balance, Son & Kane are looking more and more disinterested by it all.
We've still got next to nothing on the benches , 1 CF 1RB 1LB no DM no Playmaker, our 2 best CBs over the hill appalling.

No money to spend in the summer when the squad needs an entire rip up and start again , we can't persist with this sub standard hole plugging injury prone error prone leaderless gutless football.

Embarrassing , there's literally nothing interesting or exciting about watching spurs it's just dross.

Still don’t want to criticise JM?? I’m sorry but we have a terrible coach with terrible defenders who have not been coached to improve one bit since his appointment.

The coach must be able to get the best out of what players we do actually have and JM is not able to do that so IMO needs to be punted as soon as possible. I can’t keep listening to excuses as to why we are so bad and how he hasn’t had a chance because he hasn’t signed anyone he wants. He is a coach who’s job is to improve attitude, playing style, effort and morale - none of that has been achieved. I know we could sign a few players but based on his chosen style of play and team set up, we could sign Messi and would still be terrible to watch. We would be better off investing some cash in cling film to wrap the goal and hope that no one notices.

And please don’t blame VAR - yes it was a ridiculous decision but quite frankly it doesn’t change a thing about just how bad we are to watch.

Also, these is a rumour circulating that Monaco are interested in Serge Aurier, they must use a ball with a bell on it in France?

We are below Arsenal and they are bad....

Well said and agree 100% - the only thing missing below is an overview to what JM has added...unless that’s intentionally blank to match his achievements

I'm 40yr old and I'm embarrassed to say that's the first time I've ever turned off had I been at the game I'd have probably walked out too. I'll be honest Jose maybe he the man for the job after all but the rot set in a long time ago before him. If someone said we would get outplayed by sheff utd home and away and level with Burnley I'd have sectioned them. I didn't get the line up or the subs at all. It all has to go right from the top and needs a complete reset and evaluation.

Totally agree...we are lucky there are so few games left.

We can’t get a pat on the back for possession because half the time teams are allowing us to keep the ball knowing that the best we can manage is a 5 yard, sideways pass. As soon as we get into the opposition half, everything slows down and nothing happens. Just so happens that is the time other teams actually start defending
