So it would appear we've hit a big wall in the last few weeks and can't seem to find a way around it.

2 Quality Goals from Leicester and Kane's standard contribution split the teams.

The 1st Half was dismal, the 2nd half better hopefully from a rocket up them from Poch but some atrocious finishing let us down and there were again some very sub standard performances from a few players.

    What's going wrong?

We've lost the Dominance/Drive in midfield, we are lacking pace/trickery drastically and again we're so reliant on Kane (we are doomed if he gets injured or leaves).

The team looks unbalanced to me and predictable/devoid of ideas.

Alli & Eriksen r not performing and we have no one that will challenge them for their places.

The return of (the lesser spotted) Lamela I hear you cry and fair play to him he quickly equalled his season best ever tally with 1 assist so he can con another year or 2 out the club now running down blind alleys til another inevitable break down.

Sissokos continued upwards trajectory to bang average on a good day seems to show no signs of slowing down.

Llorente is Spanish, comes to Spurs with a good goal scoring pedigree, ambles around, looks bemused and misses sitters-reminiscent of another Spanish striker we had what was his name again....

A small squad with injuries to big players and it appears we are unravelling.

    4 points from a possible 15

That's 2 of our supposedly easy run that we've nallsed up and now we have a tricky away fixture to a decent Watford, the top 4 could pull away if we're not careful. Then what?

We bought 3 defenders in the summer of which only 1 plays regularly and a cart horse that's why we've not progressed. While everyone else seems to have.

Defence was least of our worries breaking through stubborn defences was what let us down, so buy some talent to give options/challenge others to kick on else reap the rewards of Complacency.

    Poor from the players.

Yeah but as long as poch comes out and says the players have put effort in that’s what counts!!! Top 4 and trophy’s and champions league don’t matter !

Amen to that Felon - the late Mama Cass (lot of you either won't know about her or won't remember her, a member of one of my fave 60's Pop outfits Mama's and Papa's) had a neat little Top Ten solo offering in 1969 called It's Getting Better - also covered by former Manfred's lead singer Paul Jones - and it used to lift me a bit in darker days along with the usual 60's crew of Stones, The Who, Beatles etc. Well, Spurs- wise it ain't getting any better - it's depressingly going t'other way. Think I'll concentrate on my 60's teen years and listen to some of that glorious music and forget Spurs for an hour or two, possibly even longer. Sorry about the ramble down Old-Timer Avenue boys - but that's the way I feel right now, no analysis, couldn't be ars*d. Cheers.

I agree with u to felon ...... what really gets to me is the same excuses from the manager and players, oh we put effort in ..... then players saying we weren’t good enough we need to improve !!!!! Well ffs improve then don’t keep comin out every game and performing like this! The fans have been brilliant and playing their part so why isn’t the team!!!! Another frustrating trophy less season ahead again!!!!!

  6. The problem has been there since the start of the season--the sloppy play, the missing will to win. It apparently has become a serious one. Spurs have started to believe the hype that they were the new, improved Spurs, but have stopped wanting to win.

Winning is an attitude. It is not one act of ruthlessness. It is the attitude that none but the one who gives a 100% to win shall take the field. Pochettino once removed players who were not willing to train. He may have to remove those who do not believe to win this time.

To think there were actually people/fans that were screaming that we didn't need to buy any forwards, were actually against giving the likes of Alli/Eriksen even Kane some support or competition.
Claiming we didn't Need to improve.
Telling us that this team were just gonna get better and better.

What have you got to say now eh?

Where's the anti Trophy brigade gone?

Well apparently Del having not won a League Cup for a decade or the FA Cup for over a quarter century we've out grown them and are now going for the League and Champions League.

Spurs last won a league title in 1960 / 61 season. 57 years ago! For those of us who can remember, we were a good team who ground out results even when playing badly. But most of all we were hard to beat.
This current team have too many shortcomings. We don't have enough firepower and we are simply not ruthless enough.

Felon, I really wish you’d STFU about this so-called “anti-trophy brigade” and those who have said we don’t need to invest in quality.

I gather most of the people on this forum think along similar lines to yourself (maybe not as extreme), so you’re preaching to the choir here.

To take a favourite anecdote of mine: you seem to be like a man with a fork in a world of soup. Very, very angry

Certainly am, at the lack of winning things. And the bar being set that Trophies don't matter.

But without the few posts I write no one seems to want to write. (A couple aside)

And whenever I talk about trophies more come on to attack than they do to support.

I just wanna know when as a club/fans we will start demanding more than just competing and making 2nds/3rds/cup runs something to dine out on.

And plenty of my anger goes towards seeing the inevitable on the horizon of our best players becoming disillusioned and seeking success elsewhere because we've not been proactive/hungry enough to say nearly isn't good enough with a drive to improve.

Instead we want to see how sissoko 'improves' this season and hope this is the year finally Lamela turns up and steps up the many Levels we need him to with 4 years of proof he wont.
Where are the N'Kodous and the Edwards of this project contributing etc?

Your either a serious outfit or not, serious outfits WIN!

Personally think the full forward line needs a revamp. Personally wouldn't be too bothered too see Alli be sold abroad for a big fee that's been reported. Also time for Sissoko to go improved or not he's simply not good enough. Even eriksen llorente Janssen I f we could get close to 200m the lot I'd freshen it up with pace and keep Son. Zaha Barkley Sessagnon aubamayang.

We as fan's can demand as much as we want but unless Levy listens it is pointless,Felon is correct without a cup the top player's will move on if they are more motivated by money, then sure that will happen, this is the same team that put us runners up last year so what's happened to them??Rose,Ali,have had there heads turned by Walker and the money,Sissoko is a joke what he plays like for France is nothing like he plays for us,Llorente should retire his miss last night was a insult, even Hugo is showing signs of age,Everton tried the total re-vamp and spent 200mill now they sit around the drop zone, throwing cash at the problem is not a solution to all..COYS..

The thing is Andy we were hard to beat until "recently"....I think as of last weekend we'd made the same start as last season, in terms of points one, but the international break truly cocked us up and we've got too many off form players.

When I posted yesterday, excluding Dier from the back three and playing a back 4 was key. That makes for a far more compact group to face off to Vardy and Mahrez, with pace apart from Verts. Dier has been off form since playing for England. Looks done in.
Playmakers sadly devoid of making any play. Eriksen and Dele drained by their efforts against the Republic and Madrid respectively. Haven't been the same since.
Missing Toby, Victor badly. That said we've got to turn this around with what we've got available.
If Poch goes with a back three on Sautrday, beware.

I've lost count the amount of times I've looked at the spurs line up this year and wondered where is our centre midfield. Again last night it was only one centre mid and no holding player. It was like a 3 1(dembele) 5 1 formation with two number tens and Sissoko didn't seem to have a starting position...
Last year we had two orthodox mids be it wanyama and dembele or Dier. Occasionally winks played or came on.
I wonder whether poch has seen city's 4141 formation and tried to emulate it. We don't dominate games enough or have the qualities they do. There isn't a pivot to the side. He always seems to accommodate Dier in the side be it centre half or cm.

That's what I was getting at about the dominance/drive in midfield and the unbalance of it all Fran.

Couple that with the lack of Pace wide or infront of that and it's very lackluster

Do all of our comments have a strange familiar ring to them at this time of year. We start each season expecting so much. We want Spurs to win titles. But we always end up disappointed.
Why? Because our team always has weak or dubious links. Spurs need to beef up the squad with quality. Winks, Dembele, Lamela, Dier, Sissoko, Davies and Trippier are decent players, but they are not top quality and even Poch can't turn pigs ears into silk purses.
We have already lost any chance of a premiership title this year, after only one third of the games played! From January onwards we need to be bringing in top names like Manchester city, Man United, Psg etc.
Spurs are never linked to any top world class players. Of course it will be hard to convince them to come to North London. But let's try. INVEST TO BE BEST

As we lick our wounds after a painful and damaging run of results it is worth reflecting on the harsh reality of being a Yiddo.

We support, love, stress, cry, argue over and many other emotions too many to list here about the Hotspurs, the Lilywhites. Yet we know in our minds, if not in our hearts, that we are constrained by the reality that is life. You have to balance the books.

Manure, The Wanderers, Sheik City, Chelski...others, they don't have to do that. They can defy all sensible economic logic. An Oligarch here, a Sheik there, a leveraged funding model, issue some shares there.

The reality, for me, is that I've witnessed the best and most consistent performance over 2.33 seasons than at any time in my 70 years. I read about the Double side, but rarely saw them. I sat at Wembley recently and saw us beat Real Madrid, the best club side in European top flight history, we stuffed them. It was priceless, simply priceless.

Yes I criticise, as I see it, but at the end of the day we are The Special Ones. We are The Hotspurs. We are Simply the Best

As ever Come On You Spurs
