    Another one bites the dust....

Taking a 1 goal lead to the Bridge with a team resembling a makeshift life raft patched up with blue tac and sellotape.

This is actually getting predictably boring now , big match , big chance... Throw a lead away, then start trying before inevitably whimpering off with nothing but delusional talk of how proud everyone is in the face of adversity.

Pochettino the 'Magic Man' so magic he was forced into making the correct change by Davies getting injured, Rose came on and actually made us look like we were interested.

The self preservation by the dumbing down of Trophies to somehow deflect the actual ability to win them is all too prevalent for me.

The fact we've turned up to a gun fight with a water pistol will somehow be a comfort to all those hiding behind Building schemes and financial graphs in a clear measurement of 'how far we've come' or 'punching above our weight' best loser tag lines.

The depletion of our 1st team squad, the sheer mismanagement of it, the zero planning or investment in the playing side when nothing has been achieved while profits, tickets, sponsorship, TV deals, competition money has never been so high is as contemptuous as it is negligent!

Think about it , as fans we are investing more than ever into this , as a club they're taking more than ever out of it , putting less back into it all for our Manager to be given peanuts to work with and tell us Trophies don't matter. What's worse is its almost thought we should be thankful for all of it.

    Where's your Pride ?

I'm sure there'll be a plethora of cult lobotomised optimists who'll say it's 'only the Carabao Cup' and pretend we're after the bigger things , but my question is to them how do you possibly seriously contend for the Big Prizes if you can't pick up the little ones and you have the transfer kitty of a mid table Championship side?
It's akin to earning minimum wage and refusing to drive a Ford because you only want a Bentley.

It's pie in the sky stuff.

Besides being (shafted) hamstrung Pochettino has some serious short comings in his managerial repertoire.
This is not to say he is a bad manager or that he needs to be moved on but his stubbornness and willingness to tow company line will unfortunately be his and this teams downfall, which I think we can all agree would be a huge shame.

This promising project is on the brink of collapse as has been predicted by some of us who haven't had rose tinted laser eye surgery and it doesn't please me to say told you so one bit.

There is still time to salvage something of course but come on how long have we watched this revolving false dawn and failure windows???
Something needs to change and change fast !

The excuse culture needs to stop, the glory in failure needs to stop, the patience with these serial failures needs to stop, the fan base needs to wake up from this stupor you're being scammed!

It is annoying that it keeps happening . However our problems is there are 6 good team chasing 3 domestic trophies . Look at the winners the past 5 years of the League Cup and they are from the top 6 . Not helped yesterday by the weakened team due to key injuries . Yes I thought MP set us up wrongly and we played too much on back foot first 20 minutes . Going back 3 and Rose at LWB helped . In past seasons we would have gone through on away goals . First time since 1980 that away goals had not been taken into account before going to penalties . That is life the rules were changed at the start of the season not full time yesterday . These small things seem to conspire against us in big semis at present .

As usual Felon I find myself agreeing with everything you say. However, can I just slip into the factor that by all that is holy we were cataclysmically unlucky to have three of the best players in the prem out all at the same time? Really, how many could have predicted that scenario, plus other injuries and comebacks? Doesn't detract from your point of view, but on this single match basis I don't think it can be overlooked.

How can I be so proud yet so ragingly furious with our club following yesterday? So proud of the efforts of those who were selected, and furious at those who are meant to be steering the ship. In the summer, I and others said that we were at a crossroads. An investment was crucial in the squad because success meant that we would be going deep into all competitions. Our squad is currently depleted and we have basically run out of quality....not effort or desire...but quality in depth which good investment should have brought us. So proud yet so angry.

Of course Bruski to have 2 out at the same time as 1 is on (pre known) international duty is bad luck, but it doesn't alter the fact that the supporting cast isn't good enough and hasn't been season after season

Great points that cut straight to the truth it's a brilliant and truthful article, i am not surprised by our recent failure because unless you invest in new players CONSISTENTLY and have a decent quality squad size going forward you go backwards and will not win things it's a proven fact, look at the teams winning trophies, they are the ones that have had consistent outlay on there teams and they continue to move forward that way! our small squad like ours is going to get injuries if they are playing way too many games on so many fronts with no decent alternatives to fill in for them and there lies the problem a good first 11 but nothing in reserve to come in and kick on like last night, nobody has brought that point up yet! how we needed a decent second striker last night and will do until Harry comes back but of course that will be too late then! Poch is doomed to fail because he is not being backed at all, Levy and the board need to take blame for this, they want to win things without spending a penny and are content to stay like this as long as the balance sheet looks rosy! a net spend of £18 million compared to the other big 5 that have spends in the £400 million bracket plus
paying big wages and you can see why we come up short every year, it's not rocket science! i'm not saying spend them stupid amounts but spend some money and back the manager a bit to give him a chance! hence the name calling from our failures we have to endure- bottlers that win nothing! actually with the sales of Janssen, Nkoudo and Llorente, Levy and Lewis will be in profit of the net spend by actually making £17 million that's what our owners want profit over trophies! how is this attractive to a potential player that Spurs want to sign? the message is- Spurs will not pay you the going rate, will not spend to improve the squad, will work on a shoestring budget that doesn't care if they win anything or not and that has the worse chairman in the league that just cares about profit! would you want to join Spurs on that pitch? no me neither! Lewis couldn't give a rats about the club, when do we see him at any games? once in a blue moon all he cares about is making a profit and we as fans have to suffer because of it! the attitude of the club is terrible! example- if our ONE striker gets injured we will just put a midfielder up front! FFS who does that??? only Spurs because they don't want to invest! by not spending you create so many problems and stay exactly where you are or actually go backwards, the manager becomes fed up and demotivated and then want to leave for a club that is ambitious and wants to keep improving the team with new additions, the same goes for the players they must be thinking where is the new signings that is going to come in and help us win things and they want to leave? it's like the club are doing everything to fail and as for the fans well who cares what we think! we are just used as puppets for Enic's profits with nothing given back to us! mugged off! Toby and Eriksen have seen the light and put up with enough, WHY would they want to stay? they want to win things! it's about time we started boycotting games to put pressure on Levy to spend some money, not every game but just one every so often to have our voices heard! then they have to listen to the fans because they aren't now! i bet one boycott in the new stadium will have the desired effect, imagine it half full? they will have to listen to us then! i am not going to games anymore or spending any money at the club unless they start to show some kind of ambition! been watching the same failures for over 44 years now and unless Levy and Lewis move on we will be in the same position in the next coming years with all our best players gone and the best manager we have had for ages also gone! it's about time to boycott some games if we want change! Liverpool and Man Utd have done it, Woolwich as well otherwise we will continue to stay the same trophy less outfit as usual. #LEVYOUT

Oh here we go again, a bad result and the toxic keyboard warriors are out in force saying everything needs to change at our club.

A few weeks ago after the home league game against Chelsea people were posting on here saying what a great squad we have, and now after some injuries...

We are all disappointed after last night but get real, who would you have liked us to sign in the summer to strengthen the squad? are we going to spend 40mil (+ exorbitant wages) on a back up striker to sit on the bench and play a handful of cup games until someone gets injured. As much as it pisses everyone off, we simply cannot compete financially with City, Chelsea, Liverpool or United (yet still ahead of 2 of them in the league)

For those saying it`s all irrelevant because we haven`t won a trophy recently, let me ask this?.....would you swap places with Man U over the last 3 seasons: won 2 trophies (league cup and European trophy) and watch their turgid football just to win something? no? me neither.

For all you Levy / ENIC out fans, let me ask this?.....your dream comes true and Danny boy & Joe Lewis put the club up for sale, you do know that you as supporters don`t get to pick and choose who buys the cub? For every Sheikh Mansour or Abramavich out there, there`s a Mike Ashley or Steve Parish, or maybe you want our club to be owned by a Kroenke or Glazier organization? We live in the real world, be careful what you wish for.

Lastly, why do some of our fans after a bad defeat feel the need to be so bloody toxic and nasty to owners, players, management and other supporters. I love the club have supported for over 40yrs and would love to see them win something....but not at any cost.

Over the last 10 years our Net Spend has been £9 million , when compared to every other current EPL club over the past decade it's the lowest of all by some distance.
Now I don't expect us to be outspending the Mancs or Pool etc but I don't expect us to be below every single side in the Prem below the footballing financial muscle of Palace , Brighton, Wolves , Bournemouth .... By the tune of £130mil upwards (each).
So don't come crying poverty and careful what we wish for BS every other club puts proper money into their sides without going bust.
Considering we have been recouping a lot more than every club from 7th down consistently as well the sum of money being put into our actual first team is pitiful, it's not something to be proud of or celebrate.

    Agree with felon 100%.

Spurs have 40m worth of players who draw wages but hardly ever play( Janssen, Gkn and Llorente) this money could have been spent on one player who could have helped the team rather than 3 who MP has no use for.

For a top4/cl team: minimum yearly player investment should be 50-60m with the rest coming from sales. The only time Levy ever spends big is when spurs sell big.

On yesterday's game why did MP start dier and davies? why did he remove Llorente? Why did he play a back 4 and then switch to a back 3? MP makes too many mistakes for my liking and he does not adapt the playing style to suit the players at his disposal.

Only read some of it but I get the script. Nobody can deny the lack of investment is pathetic and some of the signings even more so. Many I believe were Mitchell's signings hence he got fired and these players aren't really for moving on. Sick of loaning players out for them to come bk the following summer causing the same problems in regards to wage budgets and squad ratios. Get shut. Take the loss. Pay em off. And sign better players even if it's one major coup per window and one prospect rather than this scatter gun mid range signings.
Where I cannot agree though is blaming poch when he's under such restraints. He's getting the most out of his squad and I'm not sure many if any could do more. I'd love to see Liverpool without there front 3 go up against a top 4 side. Utd arsenal and a lesser extent city without aguero sterling sane. The boys gave it there all last night down to the bare bones and took it to pens over the two legs we were well beaten I'd admit but not once did the lads crumble or go spursy. Full strength we beat cheksea every day of the week and twice on a Sunday. Any how Son is on his way own and hope he plays a part Sunday its our only real hope of a trophy. Apparently the club has irons in the fire in regards to signings to that we will see but I won't hold my breath..
As for the future we must wait for a buy out because our chairman isn't interested.

"As for the future we must wait for a buy out because our chairman isn't interested"

52% of our fanbase want to "take back control" of our club and want Levy out, maybe without actually thinking through the realities of what that means. 48% realize although the situation is far from ideal, realities mean it`s probably best to stick with the current sent up

  12. Big fran Guest

The 48% maybe don't want the fans to take the club back but I'm sure many of that %age would like a change of ownership.

I see. Do you want Spurs to be like Everton or like West Ham? Do you want to win all ties? Our record in EPL is the best in history of THFC currently. You cannot win them all. I'd rather Spurs lose in EPL Cup semis by a penalties than in its Final to Man City.

There's no reason we shouldn't be spending in the same bracket is what I'm saying.
I'd rather we won the final than set the bar at where best to lose.

Watched Gooners v United tonight (forgive me but I love football. How is it our club trots out the same line that nobody wants to play number 2 to H, when United, and others, bring on subs that we can only dream about, and they sit on the bench and play number 2? Can't be simply money can it?

I agree with you. Yet I don't disbelieve Poch when he says they are unable to find proper players, not money. The problem is not transfer spending, therefore. It is low wages at Spurs. That is why players that Poch likes (Rabiot) chose to go for better pay elsewhere, even if they will be on the bench a lot there. Those who would like to come here, Poch dismisses, as he tired of Janssens, NKoudu, Llorentes , etc. since Spurs can't rid of those in timely manner.
So IMO Levy should be blamed for 2 things: a) inability to take a loss when in need to rid of deadwood and b) the improved wage structure is not improved enough, since the wages growing around much faster than Levy affords at Spurs.

Because it's a complete Myth created by lobotomised cult apologists.
Players want to go to / be at top clubs who want to win Trophies and pay market rate.

Pitiful 1st half 2-0, lifeline pen and Trippier knocks it off for a Goal Kick.
    Embarrassing.

What an absolutely shocking first-half display; hey, you out there - you, yes you Spurs players - are you remotely interested in this game or what ? I switched off as soon as WP handled that cross and I've no intention of going back to it. Shameful effort doesn't even come near.
