Lewis Holtby has completed his switch from Spurs to Bundesliga side Hamburg on a season-long loan deal.

Holtby is out of favour with Mauricio Pochettino despite impressing on our pre-season tour of the USA and has now been shipped out for the second deadline day in a row, after last season’s move to London club Fulham.

He was closing in on 50 Tottenham appearances before his switch, which was endorsed last week by former Spur Rafa van der Vaart.

The 23-year-old has travelled back to his native Germany and been paraded on the club’s official Twitter feed wearing his new strip, and the deal has been confirmed by everybody except Tottenham.

However, a deal that HAS been announced by the time-lapsed Spurs Twitter feed is that for the transfer of exciting midfielder Benjamin Stambouli.

Stambouli has been photographed signing his 5-year-deal with Spurs and following his £4.7million move from Ligue 1 side Montpellier, and his former boss Rolland Courbis has wished him well in England:

“Signing for Tottenham is a great step forward,” Courbis said in the French press.
“He should be able to join the French team.”
“Tottenham had a very good idea to sign him.”

Spurs accompanied their confirmation tweet with the hashtag #WelcomeBenji.

    Soldado off?
The Falcao deal could have yet more repercussions for Spurs, as AS Monaco look to replace the United-bound striker before the end of the window. Money is no object for the Russian-owned club who are now looking at Spurs’ out-of-favour Roberto Soldado.

Soldado joined Spurs last summer amongst 6 others, but has lost his place in the first eleven to Emmanuel Adebayor and Harry Kane. Soldado has netted 12 goals in 38 for Spurs but his £26million pricetag has seen him labelled a flop in the League.

Monaco along with AC Milan, Juventus and Roma are all keen on bringing the Spaniard in, in an attempt to rekindle the form he showed at Valencia the season before last.

However, Mauricio Pochettino has remained adamant that Soldado will stay:

“We keep him. He was only missing against Liverpool due to injury."

    Stubborn Saints

That would leave Spurs in need of a striker too, however long-term target Jay Rodriguez is unlikely to be making his was to Spurs any time soon with Southampton completing some impressive deals as we speak.

Both Toby Alderweireld and Sadio Mane were once Spurs targets but the two are currently undergoing medicals at St. Mary’s, while wanted duo Morgan Schneiderlin and Rodriguez are now certain to stay at the South Coast club after a real embargo over the former.

    Telegraph's Jeremy Wilson tweeted:
“Alderweireld and Mane having medicals + #saintsfc confident of keeping Rodriguez. Looks like they turned a corner with Schneiderlin stance”

So frustrated. £20m would have secured a proven PL striker in Wilfred Bony. All the business we have done with the Swans and somehow managed to miss this one!!

this is a pathetic window - we are desperate for a world class striker. Soldado wasn't the answer last year and will probably be off -loan move for Wellbeck?? Seriously is that the best we can do. Swans want Naughton, let him go in a cash plus player swap deal for Bony.

Too late now, Swansea couldn't get a replacement for Bony in time - no matter what we offer.

Totaly outclassed yesterday and now another pathetic window where we are being beaten to players by Southampton, not going to finish any higher than 7th

I like Bony, but most of his goals are scored inside the box, and Ade, Bobby, Harry and Paulinho are good at that.

In the Liverpool match, we needed to shoot outside the box, which is what Bale did for us. Townsend, Lamela, Chadli, and Ericksen are all excellent at that.

With who we have right now, we can be a top four team this year - IF one MAJOR problem is corrected, and that is, the fans need to stand behind our team ESPECIALLY while the players are learning Poch's system.

At this point, the fans are the problem - not Levy, nor Poch, and definitely not the players! If the fans continue booing their players and leave before the match is over, the players will never develop the confidence and desire to stay a Spur!

Liverpool's fans sing "you'll never walk alone" before every home match, but effectively, the Spurs fans tell their team to F*+#! Off when ever we lose! What a loser attitude!

Couldn't agree more Plucky!! We have a great squad and an entire campaign to go. Stupid comments by fair weather watchers (I won't even call them supporters) make me crazy!!

Plucky is right as far as I can tell from my stateside couch. Anyone watch the Everton vs Chelsea match? Goodison was in full voice urging on their squad. What's up with the atmosphere at the Lane? Often when I hear "Come on you Spurs" chanted by the crowd it rings of frustration and disappointment, not encouragement or support.
