Mauricio Pochettino is expected to make wholesale changes for his side’s Capital One Cup meeting with Brighton & Hove Albion on Wednesday.

The opponents currently sit perilously once place above the Championship relegation zone, with just two points keeping them clear of chasing Bolton and Birmingham.

Sami Hyypia’s side have now failed to win in 10 Championship games, while their last victory in all competitions came in the last round of the League Cup away at Burton Albion.

    Team News

Federico Fazio is available again after serving his one-match suspension for the red card he picked up in our 4-1 defeat away at Manchester City, while Kyle Naughton has recovered from an ankle injury picked up in our last Premier League win against Southampton at the Lane.

Nabil Bentaleb remains sidelined with another ankle injury, while Kyle Walker is still recovering from pelvic surgery.

Harry Kane is expected to be given the nod ahead of Emmanuel Adebayor after the Togo striker’s poor performance at the weekend failed to justify his inclusion following Kane’s midweek hat-trick against Asteras Tripolis.

Kane made a brief cameo appearance against Newcastle on Sunday – and managed to make as many touches in the Toon penalty box in 23 minutes as Adebayor did in 83. He now has 7 goals from 10 appearances this season, including 6 in 5 in Europe.

Pochettino could also use the opportunity to blood fresh young talent, following the successes of breakthroughs Nabil Bentaleb, Ryan Mason and now Kane in recent times.

    Opponent Watch

Sami Hyypia has flirted with the sack on numerous occasions in recent weeks, especially with the managerial merry-go-round of the Championship kicking into full swing. However, the former Liverpool defender will be in the dugout this Wednesday night in search of their first victory in over a month.

They’ve managed just 13 goals in 14 Championship games this season, with centre-half Lewis Dunk topping their top goalscorers list with 4 goals from defence.

Their 3-0 last round victory over Burton came thanks to goals from Rohan Ince, Kazenga LuaLua and Craig Mackail-Smith – the latter of whom is the only striker to have scored for the Seagulls all season.

The last time the two sides met, Robbie Keane struck a spectacular 84th-minute volley after Ledley King had seen his opener cancelled out.

    What They Said

Manager Mauricio Pochettino - "I am not concerned because we know that we have a lot of time. We have improved our physical condition, we have improved our tactical condition. Now our challenge is to create a winning mentality and try to cut out the mistakes we showed at the start of the second half [vs Newcastle]."

Defender Younes Kaboul - “We have another game on Wednesday against Brighton in the Capital One Cup where we need to make our task easier on the pitch by trying to kill the game as early as we can. Like Sunday, if we manage to score the second goal the game is over for sure. But we have to kill the game and avoid chances against us.”

“We’ve no choice but to go forward now. When you get criticism, you have to face it.

“Every single one of us has to look forward and fight for the team and the Club and that’s what we are going to do.”

Christian Eriksen said: “As players, we are all trying to adapt to Mauricio’s new style of play and we won’t know everything straight away. It is still a work in progress but, hopefully, we won’t take too long to get it right.

“We could have done better in some games. We have had some good results but some disappointing defeats too, although it is easy to forget that we are still working with a new manager.

“You can already see that we are starting to play the way he wants us to, and the more we work together, the better the results will be. We have been saying that it is important to have a high level of performance in our upcoming games.”

    Expected Line-up

Vorm; Davies Chiriches Vertonghen Naughton; Stambouli Dembele; Townsend Kane Lennon; Soldado

Well if your struggling and want to end a baron spell WHL is the place to visit.
We need to start getting 6 or 7 steady settled players playing and alternate around them to get some consistancy going.
We also need to start using/applying some different tactics because the whole 4231 is clearly not working or being executed properly.

yet again the team will be changed and therefore not one ounce of consistency runs through this team. The assertion from Pochettino at the weekend that he will pick the best team to wins the different games is an absolute nonsense.
The fact is that he has absolutely no idea what his best eleven is and he has had plenty of time to find this out, and plenty of games to do so. Yes, he may be able to make changes in January, but he needs to start convincing us that he has any tactical know how at all.
Whatever team he plays tomorrow night, it must win. It need to win with style and we need to see that the players actually give a ****. It might help if the manager showed some more passion as well from the sidelines.

    Come on you Spurs!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

All I can say is whoever Poch plays they better turn up and if he is going to use players like Lennon and Townsend at least play them to their strengths and on their better sides. I also think Lamela needs dropping to cup games for a spell so id slot him in. Dier looks as though he could do with a break so hopefully Naughton is available for a run but if not, and im a bit scared but maybe even Vlad could have a run at RB ? I don't see any future at all for him at CB, in fact I don't know how or why he has ever been a CB ? anyway COYMFS FFS...

Oh, he does know. It doesn't mean he will play them. There are other objectives than just win at any cost. That would be a supporter mentality. Football professional cannot act (in technical area) or think like that. MP needs to showcase some players for Levy so they can be sold. He needs to save his best performers from fatigue. We all know how AVB ended once he got stuck to 1st team for all the time. Those mistakes will be avoided. As a result, Poch will try to win games with MINIMAL usage of talent. The problem there is that a given not the best group must play with intensity that would compensate for the lack of skills in order to produce the desired result. To resolve this issue not a tactical but human management is needed. That is where Spurs are not strong and that is why we're losing to lesser sides. It is time for Pochettino to stop being player friendly coach. Yet it is hard to intimidate the players with words, the deeds are required. No deeds could be seen before January. I suggest patience till then.

I have no idea who will he start tonight. Neither does anyone else.

    At least AVB showed passion.
