Tottenham have seemingly bolstered their scouting network, with the British media claiming that 24-year-old former Malaga technical director Adrian Esparraga has been hired.

The Spaniard, who is also a UEFA Pro Coach, has been appointed by Paul Mitchell to head up the scouting network for southern Europe.

Esparraga’s Twitter page has been updated to state that he works for the club and he will clearly bring a wealth of knowledge of the Spanish game to White Hart Lane.

The Spaniard was at Malaga during Manuel Pellegrini’s stint at the Andalusian club but left the La Liga side earlier this season.

    Rio Ave vs Braga

Meanwhile, Portuguese newspaper O Jogo has claimed that Tottenham scouts were in attendance at yesterday’s Primeira Liga clash between Rio Ave and Braga.

The media speculation does not insinuate which player or players the Spurs men were specifically there to watch, but a number of possible targets have been mentioned in the British press.

The consensus seems to be that 21-year-old Braga star Rafa Silva would be the most enticing prospect.

Silva has been linked with Liverpool and Everton in the past and has won three caps for the senior Portugal side.

He has been nicknamed the ‘new Hazard’ in some quarters and is reported to have a €25m termination clause in his contract.

Other prospects that could have caught Spurs’ eye include Braga midfielder Danilo Barbosa, who is a Brazil under-20 international and Egyptian striker Koka, who has scored 11 goals in 17 games this term.

    Bacca (again)

Finally, Carlos Bacca’s name has again been mentioned as a possible summer target, with Paul Mitchell reportedly flying to Germany to watch the Colombian forward in action in midweek.

The British media state that Mitchell was in attendance at Sevilla’s Europa League clash with Borussia Monchengladbach on Thursday night, which the Spaniards won 3-2.

It took Bacca only eight minutes to open the scoring in the clash, while the South American attacker has netted 14 La Liga goals in 25 games this season.

However, it is reported that Daniel Levy is not keen on the deal to bring Bacca to White Hart Lane, specifically as the 28-year-old would have little resale value and that the club has already been burnt once in signing a La Liga striker - Roberto Soldado.
