Sambas Selected; Beauty without the Beast

Luiz Felipe Scolari a.k.a Big Phil selected his 23 man-squad for this years’ World Cup yesterday, one that will be hosted by the Brazilians themselves.

Amongst the silky Samba names of David Luiz, Fernandinho and Neymar was that of Paulinho – a player who has gone from being labelled the ‘Black Lampard’ to the ‘Brazilian Jenas’ by many Spurs supporters this season.

However, the biggest shock for fans of our club comes not in inclusions within the Brazil squad, but exclusions.

Within the midfield ranks of this Brazilian World Cup squad, there was no place for Sandro. After battling with injury and a manager who deemed him “not good enough”, the Beast will not be in Brazil this summer.

A bigger surprise yet, lies in the exclusion of goalkeeper Heurelho Gomes, who despite putting in some decent performances in 5 a-side training this season at Hotspur Way, did little to convince Big Phil that he could play a part at the tournament.

    Right Said Fredericks

In news closer to home, and more concrete – it appears that Ryan Fredericks has returned to Spurs following a loan spell at Milwall.

For The Lions, Fredericks made 14 appearances and scored 1, and it looks as though he may be in line to start this weekend in our final game at home to Villa. Posting a photo of himself closing down Christian Eriksen in training on his personal Instagram, Fredericks wrote –“Nice seeing all the lads and being back at Spurs today”.

After @AddictedtoSpurs reposted the photo on Twitter, fans response was both unanimous and positive. Replies to the post included the words – “blistering pace”, “underrated”, whilst one fan went on to tweet – “Such a sound guy, he deserves all the chances in first team he can get, #Future”.

How on earth has Paulinho made it into the WC Brazil squad?
Come to think about it how does he make it into the Spurs squad?
17mil wasted lets hope he has a good WC and someone is mad enough to buy him off us. As for Sandro could anyone blame him if he wanted out in the Summer?

TS has decided this one by choosing the latter over the beast and cost him his wcup place. Wanker. That's y he's getting sacked as he cannot see or understand the importance of a def mid in modern football which should be the corner stone of any quality team.
