The game at the Liberty yesterday was enough continue the tale of two strikers in top form – a Swan and a Spur.

The Spur, Harry Kane, has now scored 10 goals in his last 15 games for the club and this has caused fans to fear how the team will fare if anything happens to our man of the moment. In comparison, Wilfried Bony (the Swan) has been consistently linked with a move to WHL since the summer, and his exceptional display yesterday has done little to take our eyes off the prize.

As we approach the next window, we will no doubt be linked with Bony again, but with the current form of Harry Kane – do this transfer really need to happen?

    Bony to buy = no-brainer

Wilfried Bony is the in-form striker in the PL at present and is now a proven goal-scorer in England, having scored 20 PL goals in the 2014 calendar year. As a result, Bony would fit the bill perfectly and we might be foolish to miss out on him again.

I argued in my piece yesterday that even though Kane has exceptional ability, he should be given the time and space to develop his game at the club.

If Bony was to become a Spur, he would ultimately take certain reins away from Kane, in terms of being the main goal-getter. This would then provide Kane with less-pressure and would allow the youngster to concentrate on improving all the aspects of his game. This will ultimately benefit Kane in the long run, allowing him to fulfil his true potential.

    Bony buy would hurt Kane

It was calculated after the game yesterday that Harry Kane ran 13.1km, which more than any other forward in the PL so far this season. In addition, his pressure on Jazz Richards in the dying minutes was the catalyst that led to Eriksen’s winning goal.

With this in mind, it’s clear to see that Kane relishes his time on the pitch as his work-rate exemplifies this. Not only has this work-rate impressed fans and pundits alike, but it is also the high-quality of performances that he is consistently producing.

In order for Kane to remain at this level and progress further, it is without question that he will need to be given a recurring role in the starting XI. As a result, it could be that in signing Bony, we hinder Kane’s development. With Bony being our ‘star-man’, it would be disappointing and a danger to Kane to see him return to a secondary figure in the squad, such as the one he was under Redknapp and AVB.

    Together better and better together

Kane and Bony are far from carbon-copies of one another, but they have similar strengths that make them so effective when playing as a striker. The two both rely on their strength and clever awareness to not only score goals, but to bring their teammates into play.

However, that being said, Kane has been extremely effective recently playing in behind a lone-striker as a support forward, a role that has been done to great effect by the legendary Francesco Totti. To add to Kane’s case of being a second striker, before Alan Shearer was converted into typical English centre-forward, the Geordie played a more creative role - providing chances for fellow strikers, making runs into space and gaining space himself to shoot. And this is a role that seems perfectly suited to Kane.

With this in mind, if Kane and Bony were to end up in the same team – who’s to say that they couldn’t play together, with Kane in behind the Ivorian up front. We, the fans, have often accused Pochettino of trying to make square pegs fit in round holes, but maybe, in Kane and Bony, we truly have a two-piece picture.

Bony may well be a good option but to sell Kane would be utter madness. He is developing and learning every game and is developing a lot more to his game along with scoring goals. Whoever comes in needs to be able to complement Kane and help his progress, not stop it.
Selling Kane would also turn a lot of fans against the manager and he isnt yet 100% popular.

Hopefully Bony and Kane could be the golden duo. That's the attack sorted, now just need 4 decent defenders and we may have cracked it!!!

I think we are all pretty much in agreement that bony should be our no 1 target but we will have to pay over the odds for him 25m +. I think due to the fact we are unbelievably in touching distance of the top four with seeming two spots available he is defo worth it. See vidic is out of favour at inter Milan too. And ashley Cole and Micah Richards. Back in for scneiderlin and maybe cabaye. Jay Rodriguez and konopklplaya. The nucleus is of a decent top six side seems to be emerging!

Swansea are not about to sell us Bony, and Levy wont pay enough money to make them the requisite offer-they-cant-refuse.

So that's the end of that then.

Every team in the PL get 50m big ones just for being in it. Bony like Andy Carroll the bidding will start at £30. Levy will start the bidding at £10 so no chance.
