Alright, we all know that it is extremely old news that Real Madrid came barging into White Hart Lane once Luka Modrić showed his value. They flaunted their championship heritage and yearly inclusion in the Champions League, and pried the little Croatian away from London. Once they did so, and with some “hard bargaining” by chairman Daniel Levy, Tottenham Hotspur and Real Madrid entered into a “special partnership.”

The only problem is, that “partnership” seemed to be only bearing fruit for Real Madrid. Soon, they came calling for Gareth Bale and set a spending record while taking our beloved Welsh winger away to the Santiago Bernabeu. Spurs fans were really wondering what the “partnership” must have been. Buy our two best players in a matter of a few seasons? Got it. We get nothing. Nice “partnership”. Maybe the higher ups at Real thought our bargain buy of Rafael van der Vaart a few years earlier counted towards our new found “partnership”. Who knows.

What I do know is that it is high time for Real Madrid to make good on whatever promises occurred when we sold them Modrić and Bale. I am not naïve enough to believe that Spurs are in contention to bring Bale back to White Hart Lane, but based on the grumblings in and around Madrid, Bale could be on the way out. And if he does leave, the chances are pretty good that he arrives in Manchester, either with United or City.

Now, I’m not a “savvy negotiator” like Mr. Levy, but in the very least, he should ask Real Madrid to not sell their out of favour Welshman to one of our league rivals. At some point in the “partnership” things should start to spin in Spurs’ direction. Now is the time. If Madrid must sell Bale (and I don’t think they should or even that they will), please keep him off of English soil. Do this one little favour for your “partner” with whom you allegedly hold a “special” relationship with.

Nigel is right, it ended last year, after Madrid sold Ozil to Arsenal. There is nothing there for us.

Reality people. Real Madrid business is their own .......business. Spurs control our own business. Their is no special relationship.

Please leave a bunch of flowers and Javier Hernández at the door and we'll call it quits.

There is no loyalty in football when money is involved and as such a special relationship has no basis in reality.

It was just a sweetener that Levy popped in to the statement to soften the blow of selling a player we were adamant we wouldn't sell. Like a diversion tactic. Levy like a politician. There is no special relationship with Real Madrid but it made spurs fans feel special for all of five minutes.

Not relevant to the story but while I'm extremely proud that Harry will be representing england u21s this summer while others pull out spurs should have f****d the fa right off. Is it because we are such a shite club we are expected to send our lads out there but others don't want thier players(who barely played this year by the way) fatigued but it's OK for HK to come back fooked ? Disgrace.

Bale is property of Real Madrid they can sell him to whoever they like, which 99% of the time is to the highest bidder or the players prefered choice.
Bale was a great player for us but he decided he was too big for Spurs and moved on so what or where he goes has nothing to do with us whatsoever.
Why were so hung up on him still baffles me hes gone get over it!

Bale has gone on record to say he doesn't want to join Man Utd. If RM do sell him (which I doubt, at least for a few seasons yet) I can see PSG or maybe Bayern Munchen calling...

    Bale. Modric. Berbatov.
    We buy talent. Get somewhere.
    Then sell.
