As we welcome City to the Lane today, the main aim must be to finish the season as strongly as we can, and keep building for next season.

Our opponents have arguably had a worse season in terms of squad potential and achievement than we have. Any team with the likes of Sergio Aguero, Yaya Tourè and David Silva should be competing for the league, and yet with four games to go they find themselves still unsure of a Champions League place.

Contrast this with us; we have a new manager, a young team, and one or two standout world class players and we've reached a cup final, and remain on course to a credible finish in the league. I for one do not see this season as a failure we are improving season on season and with the right buys this summer, we could be a real force in the future.

Onto today's game, and the fixture last season was one to forget a 15 defeat at the hands of a fullfiring City team who decimated every team in the league last year. This year however, it is a completely different story. We come into the game with 8 points out of a possible 18, in the form two wins, two draws, and two losses, while City have 9 from a possible 18 with three wins and three defeats.

The year before that, in what was one of the most exciting games of the season, City took the lead through Samir Nasri, but we responded with three goals of our own but all through players who are no longer at the club; it was Clint Dempsey who scored our equaliser, before Defoe curled one into the corner and then Gareth Bale scored an exquisite chip.

This time around, the players will be hopefully be looking at a similar result if Kane can is serviced properly, and Eriksen gets on the ball often, it is a possibility.
However, there is always danger at the other end Sergio Aguero is the only player to have scored more league goals than Harry Kane, and in Vincent Kompany, Jan's defensive partner for Belgium, they have one of the best centre backs in the league.

There is no doubt that they can damage us going forwards, but they have looked liable at the back in recent weeks and this is something we must exploit if we are to get anything from the game.

Predicted XI: Lloris, Rose, Vertonghen, Dier, Yedlin, Bentaleb, Mason, Chadli, Eriksen, Lamela, Kane.

Kompany is injured I believe, and there's no way in the world that Yedlin will start this match. (Although Poch does have a history of suprising us). Agree about the season tho' - glass half full for me!

'We are improving season on season'? How do you work that one out? Fourth under Redknapp in 2012, fifth thanks to Bale's superhuman efforts in 2013, sixth under the unholy alliance of AVB/Sherwood last season, and probably sixth again, with an almost certainly lower points total under Pochettino - where's the progress? Not only has there been no improvement in league position, but the performances have been either mediocre or downright dire, with only the Arsenal and Chelsea games to get excited about in a season of sixty-odd games, and there's no reason to expect better next year, with a stadium to pay for and a rookie manager (coach?) making it up as he goes along - will we go a full decade without a trophy for the first time in eighty years? I wouldn't bet against it with ENIC at the helm.

Dont get excited !!! They will still beat us !! Not even gonna bother to turn it on !!! Season ended long ago.... Whether we like it or not another season in the Ropey League is on the cards. Not if we lose or draw our last games tho ........... Debatable if the players want it or not too !!!!

Apologies re season on season - I meant to say we will be improving with our youngsters coming through. I didn't think we were bad today, but we missed a cutting edge.
