Tottenham’s sale of Kyle Naughton to Swansea last week was the club’s only piece of transfer business this month to date - but the rumours continue to come thick and fast in the British media.

A new report has today emerged stating that Spurs are ready to launch a bid for Burnley’s highly rated striker Danny Ings, who has been in fine form for the newly promoted side this season.

The England under-21 star has netted seven Premier League goals this season for the Turf Moor outfit and is being linked with some of the division’s top teams in the media with regularity.

The Daily Mail claim that Spurs will make a £5 million bid for the 22-year-old, who is out of contract in the summer and as such could well be available at a cut-price fee.

Ings has really rose to prominence in recent seasons, with 20 goals in The Championship last term and impressive performances for England under-21’s also.

With Premier League experience and youth on his side, the Burnley attacker looks like a real prospect and a player that could well be a canny addition for Spurs if his current rate of progress is maintained.

With Emmanuel Adebayor and Roberto Soldado offering little in the way of support for Harry Kane, Ings’ signing could really freshen up Mauricio Pochettino’s attacking options.

With the fee a fraction of what it would be if Ings had a longer current deal at Burnley, Spurs would be advised to take the initiative and beat other Premier League sides to the striker’s signature.

Sell Lennon, buy Ings and make £5 million?

Meanwhile, Aaron Lennon’s future remains up in the air as the former England winger has been starved of opportunities to play this season.

The diminutive wideman is Tottenham’s longest serving current player, but is understandably disenchanted by the lack of opportunities to play for the team.

Although Lennon is not short of suitors this January if media reports are to be believed, Spurs are thought to be reluctant to sell the star on the cheap.

The Daily Star today have stated that Spurs are willing to allow the 27-year-old to go out on loan, with the likes of Hull, Stoke and West Brom all keen to offer the midfielder regular first-team football.

The report also indicates that Tottenham value Lennon at £10 million and are reluctant to lower this to allow the player to leave White Hart Lane permanently.

I am personally of the opinion that Lennon has quite a lot to offer Spurs and could well be an asset to the team if given more time on the pitch.

I still feel he is a better and more consistent option than Andros Townsend, but Pochettino seems to think differently in his team selection.

Sending Lennon out on loan does not strengthen Spurs’ position; especially given that his contract expires next summer.

As such, if the former Leeds man is not in the manager’s plans then selling him for the best possible price now is surely the preferable option.

Selling Lennon for £10 million and buying Ings for half that sum certainly seems like good business.

It's surely a no brainer. Someone who doesn't get into our reserves for someone who could potentially start in our best XI? + 5 mill on the side? Get it done ASAP

I get quite excited about a transfer rumour until reading the invalidating source that is The Daily Mail.
Their Journalists are desperate and it is not a good well of info.
Ings is too important for goals to a relegation threatened club and he has stated that he will help his club until the summer and wants to stay till then.
Spurs fans , we need patience and a good summer transfer window backing MP . I do hope we sign - Gray ( Bham ) , Depay, Kopolayanka , Delph and Ings in the summer . Most are cheap are contact free so we should show ambition , if we rid our squad of dead wood. I like Poch and he needs time and a bloody striker now and quickly. COYS

We all know that Danny has effectively outgrown our Club but to sell in January would be canter mount to financial suicide. When you take into account what staying in the Prem is worth and actually the tribunal fee when out of contract wont be that much less prob looking at £3 mil ish.

I believe he'll go nowhere in Jan but the summer could well be a different matter. Best of luck for rest of season.

We could buy the whole Real Madrid outfit and Poncho could'nt get 'em playing.Decent manager who knows what its about needed not a continual turn over of average players.Wheel the youngsters out they couldnt be worse.

I'm not convinced by Poch. I'm struggling to work out why people have when it's not really any better than AVB. We are in the Semi's of the League Cup by beating Nottm Forest, Brighton and Newcastle at home and we have a narrow lead to go to Sheffield with on a cold night in January.

He's tinkered with the team way too much, given Adebayor a way back into the team for no good reason at the expense of a our top scorer and best player, Kane. And even Soldado. I don't think he likes Kane. It's as if because he has had nothing to do with him he resents the fact he is and has been our best player. I don't think it's a coincidence that side he's moved Kane out of position or dropped/rested him, that we've been poor. It's as if because he didn't score or have his best game against Sunderland that he's punishing him.

I'm not saying sack him, but I don't see him as a long term success. The Chelsea win has gone to his head, although in fairness, it seems to have gone to the players heads too.

    Frustrating

  7. Ten million pounds for lennon ha ha ha i would not pay ten pence for this useless individual he has been conning spurs for seasons
he is unable to do the basics like kick a ball correctly never scores a goal doesnt take a corner or free kick when did he last take a fullback on or cross a decent ball and hides when the going gets tough id rather danny ings little toe.and mores to the point the manager agrees with me.

It so is a No Brainer Josh.....however this is Levy, ENIC and Poch. Remember back to the arrival of Nelson and Saha....ffs, nothing changes. We've needed a quality striker, then and for a dozen transfer windows since. Baldini totally bogged up, with the Soldado and Lamela choices, and here we are.
Buy Ings, just do it, make a name for yourself. It has to be that Levy doesn't want the hit on the bottom line, getting shot of a £27m striker only 18 months into a 5 year deal, for what would be a fire sale price, based on what we've seen. They say you're first loss is your worst loss. Take a leaf out of ITV Sports book (firing Chiles)....look at what's in front of you, realise you need to act and just do it.

Anyone who thinks Burnley will sell Ings for £5m is seriously deluded

Ings will go at the end of the season with £3 Million going to Burnley, why would they sell him for £2 Million now. He is about their only hope of staying up. He also will have a complete pick of teams wanting his services.
One question I do have, why are we constantly outplayed and outfought by teams below us, we apparently have one of the fittest teams around and yet we constantly pass sideways or backwards and find ourselves chasing shadows.
Not the season I had hoped for, we are an average team (at best), Lamela is a £30 million waste of money, last season injured this season still searching for form, as mentions above, Baldini should be sacked over this alone.

Goodness knows what lennon has done to Pochettino he's been the best right winger in the league for years and has improved every season beats defenders easily gets quality crosses into the box also creates when he comes inside been one of our best and most consistent players for a long time, if we're serious about competing for top four we need to be more ambitious in our signings than Ings
