Tottenham Hotspur have finally confirmed the joint signing of Swansea City pair Ben Davies and Michel Vorm.

Left-back Davies has agreed a five-year deal, while Holland international goalkeeper Vorm has signed a four-year contract.

The transfer of the pair had been in the pipeline for several days and Spurs accidently released a video which showed Davies training with the first team to all but confirm the transfer recently.

    ‘Delighted to join Spurs’

Davies leaves Swansea after 12 years and posted two messages on his official twitter account after his move was finally confirmed this evening.

“Moving after 12 years at Swansea City, I want to thank everyone that’s been part of my career, will never forget it,” the 21-year-old tweeted.

“Delighted to be joining Tottenham Hotspur, looking forward to getting started and to a successful season.”

The defender also spoke to the official Swansea City website to thank his former club and explain his decision to move to north London with Spurs.

Davies first thanked everybody at the Welsh club for giving him the opportunity before discussing his transfer to Mauricio Pochettino’s team.

    ‘Massive footballing challenge’

    The Welsh international said:

“I’ll be back to watch the boys when I can from the stand.

“It was sad saying my goodbyes because they’ve been great with me from the first day I joined the squad. But in the end it was an opportunity I couldn’t turn down.

“Moving to Spurs is a massive footballing challenge for me again, but I’m looking forward to it.

“They were the ones chasing me from the beginning and I want to repay the faith they have shown in me by doing well for them and continuing to improve as a player.”

The classiness shown by the youngster to his former club is something that should go down well with Spurs fans and his eagerness to impress is clear to see.

Left-back has been a problem position for Tottenham over the past two seasons but hopefully under the guidance of Pochettino, Davies can make the position his own and develop into an excellent player.

    Vorm signing makes sense

Goalkeeper Vorm will also be a great addition to the squad as his playing style resembles that of first choice Hugo Lloris.

Therefore if the Frenchman is unavailable through injury, suspension or just given a rare rest, we will have an able replacement ready to come in for the France number one.

Moving in the opposite direction to Swansea is Gylfi Sigurdsson and although he failed to hold down a starting position during his two seasons with the club, he did provide several great memories – not least his stunner against Hull City last season in the Capital One Cup.

So after days of waiting for a signing, Spurs announce two at the same time and once again the future is looking bright.

Both good signings, big Brad is definitely past it now and Vorm is an excellent backup option for Hugo. Just watched Davies in his first appearance and I thought he played well in a very composed defensive unit, he was solid at the back and found space going forward. Well done and welcome to the mighty Spurs.
Good first half performance from the boys, they played the ball quickly and pressed well and two nice goals from Erik will do his confidence the world of good, he played with a lot of purpose and energy. Good signs and good linkup in a very fluid attack. The second half not so good with a whole new team except Brad. The CBs are a real problem, Daws doesn't look right and not ready for the new season, maybe his head is in the wrong place and Fryers is not a CB so im hoping that we are not trying to fit him into a role that does not suit him. Haven't heard much more on the Vlad thing but I don't see him going anywhere just yet although the said back injury is a bit suspicious. On a good note Kaboul looking good and fit. He and Jan will be our best CB pairing this year if injuries are kind. I see Caulker is off to QPR, interesting, a lot of fans including myself had hoped to see a return especially with him being reasonably priced, not to mention what soon may be a serious shortage of decent options at the back. Maybe rumors of off field and discipline issues were true.

Good signings but id still like to see a new CB to replace Daws. Veljkovic does looks a good prospect and will probably get a few games this year in the cups, notat all interested in the Holtby for Vlaar swap deal rubbish, theres no way we are giving up a talent like Lewis for a 30 year old CB.
