After the youth worked hard and we saw some real potential for the future in midweek, this Saturday sees Spurs return to the Lane against last seasons Champions, Leicester City.
Although our last league game was the first all season where we failed to find the net in the league, our scoring form has been somewhat lacking compared to last seasons efforts.
Whilst that is cause for some concern, some have overreacted and even suggested Spurs are simply "not good enough" to challenge for the title or even the top 4. Whilst it is true that had we not dropped 4 points on the last 2 games we would be heading the table, it's simply nonsense that Spurs are not good enough.
Like last season, this will be a close call and 5 or 6 teams will be in the mix right the way through to May and I honestly believe Spurs will be there or thereabouts come the end of the Premier League marathon.

Leicester have already given up their crown as they seem to be focused on the Champions league where they remain unbeaten and if they......well, if they did the impossible in that competition it really would be incredible. Hopefully we will do that though. (Tongue firmly in cheek)

Spurs still boast a mean defence although in the last 4 games across all competitions, it is fair to say that both Lloris and Vorm have had to be at their very best. Saturday would be a great opportunity to get some goals, especially as Leicester have been shipping plenty on their travels this term already. Whilst Janssen has been far from convincing in front of goal, I think Poch has to start him to get the game time and hopefully those first goals and they could do to be from open play.
Considering it was Janssen and Son linking so well against Boro, it would seem sensible to start both men this weekend at the Lane.
Sissoko is missing after his stupidity at Bournemouth and Kane is still not ready to return to 1st team action just yet.

Goals, performance and three points are a must.

    My preferred line up

Lloris, Walker, Alderweireld, Vertonghen, Rose, Dembele, Dele, Eriksen, Wanyama, Janssen , Son.

That would be my preferred line up too but not sure Poch will leave his favourite boy out.
Maybe just give Walker an extra rest for midweek and use Trippier again as I think his crossing is better and it might help Janssen get off the mark.

Well, with Sissoco out Lamela must start, like it or not. Spurs have no one to cover Right MF spot in his stead. The fact that Poch took skipper Dier out at Anfield suggests he wants to start him against LCFC. The 4-1-4-1 experiment has come to the end after Bourmouth tie, the return to 4-2-3-1 seems to be imminent. Soo... It should be
    Lloris,
    Walker, Dier, Vertonghen, Rose
    Wanayama, Dembele,
    Lamela, Dele, Son
    Jenssen
Eriksen will come for Dele from the bench or the other way around.

No Toby until next week , Kane is also close so maybe we,ll see him during the week aswell ... Personally I'd play the strongest available for each game , but we know he likes to switch the fullbacks more then most and with 3 big games in 7 or 8 days it will be interesting to see who he goes with here .... Would be ideal if we could start well in a few games , get a couple of goals and make some changes after an hour or so but that's wishful thinking at the moment ... I like guesty,s line up , that's the way I'd be thinking ... 3 points please ... C.O.Y.S .......

Let's face it, not many permutations, given the injuries and no Sissoko.
It's Lamela's work rate versus his poor discipline, compared to Eriksen's being a less risky option.

I'd start Eriksen, Son, Alli with Janssen ahead. A 1-0 win, with our new CF scoring a screamer would make his and our day. No sooner said than done.

I thought Trippier was very good in the week, lots of energy and quality put into the box. No harm in him starting tomorrow and resting Kyle so he is fresh for Bayer and the shower down the road. Would definitely start with Janssen and Son; they should link up well and bring a threat 2the Leicester back line.

Looking forward to the imminent return of Harry and Toby ngl!

Felon as manager would make Tim Sherwood look like Bambi. Altho he'd certainly sort out this squad and style of play, good call.
Might be some older legs amongst this lot but a lot of passion, who's captain ?

With the games we've got coming 3 points is a must but im worried that Claudio has us worked out and will set up accordingly
Most of the time we are predictable and easy to hold out and hit on the counter.
Against City we pressed hard but also played the ball foward with pace and some longer balls and put them under pressure.
For me with Dembele and Wanyama playing central Son on the left and Janssen up front is a must. I prefer Alli behind as i think he could build something with Janssen. Close call but i would pick Lamela over Eriksen here, just not good enough of late and needs to find a bit of ticker and fight for his place.

That was a sore one , no win in 5 and only one goal scored from play ... Decent enough performance but it ain't worth sh1t if you can't score ... We can dress it up anyway we like but there's just not enough quality at the top end of the pitch .. As for the bench today , was there a bench in the division with less options , it's not s dig at the lads , they're only kids and it's all we had , I'll say no more .. Never a good idea to go on a rant just after a game , let the heart settle a bit first ...
