the point is that Janssen is a CF...a goal scorer....who isn't scoring goals. why is that???
If we wanted someone who only can hold the ball up and is strong we should have kept Huddlestone and played him up top. (ok that's a joke...but the point is there)
Janssen has to run the channels because the three behind him do not get ahead of him. Soldado never ran the channels because he is/was a goal scorer. he wanted the ball in the box early to give him a chance.
....sadly as good as Janssen is outside the box...for a CF....its goals that count. ...and unfortunately for our CF (whoever that is) we want to walk the ball to the 6 yard box

When the man of the match is your goalkeeper means that the rest of team are not good .

The modern day role of a CF is far more complex than putting the ball in the net believe me. Central defenders are as poor as I've ever seen yet out and out forwards are getting less goals than ever. Gone are the days of 30 league goal strikers. A 20 goal hitman is classed as a good player now. How many hit 20 last year. Vardy Kane and aguero?
Of course he needs to start scoring. That's plain to see but he had the ball in the net, rattled the bar and was his clever run if you watched that made space for alli's missed header. Also a great bit of skill chasing a lost cause and squaring across goal which was unfortunate. Who created anything apart from him. Did we go downhill after his departure. I feel Poch is breaking his confidence by hauling him off while he's still contributing more than those around him.

    Re Janssen

You can only score if you get the service at this moment in time he has around him Alli and Son who are selfish, Lamela and Eriksen who are slow and seem to always want to play a sideward pass and Sissoko who is a Donkey.(lamela also)

The only feed he gets are channel balls or getting pumped up to him so he does the best with it that he can which is hold it up and bring others in to play.

He is nothing like Soldado who was weak and lazy, Janssen has a workman like attitude and gives his all on the pitch for the team.

Whoever plays in the 3 behind as ive been saying for past 3 seasons need to up their games and start penetrating other defences, too slow n ponderous

....I don't believe you. .......and the reason is that every team needs at least one who can do just that. put the ball in the net.
I'm not convinced we bought Janssen to be another passing helper in our list of passing helpers!
....we have sooo many we could play a front 6 and no 'modern day CF'.....and just let them pass it about in the oppo final third until we all die of boredom

One player that has not been mentioned is Trippier his crossing last night was fantastic he must be given a chance in the team and we have Nkuodo who on current form should be better than Lamela, both Lamela and Sissoko should be benched,un-beaten away in the CL sounds better when said like that,we can be better and will improve as we progress, but as Spurs fan's we like to slag our team before they fail!!!!!

Nkoudou...and Wimmer....cannot be better on current form than Lamella and Dier.....as Nkoudou and Wimmer have no recent/current playing form in the 1st team!!
okay...so you must mean in training.....and I would suggest that Pochy sees that Lamela and Dier as better players in training than Nkoudou and Wimmer.

If you are saying Lamela and Dier are not on form that is one thing. ....but expecting people who have no form to have better form than them is something else

I was surprised when he took Jansen off , I taught he was by far the best player out of the front 4 or 5 ... One of our problems is nobody except Ali seems to run in behind , that's why I've said for a long time I don't like Erikson playing no 10 , he never runs in behind .... We,re back to the old argument of do we have a proper no 10 ... Maybe when Harry comes back Jansen should be tried in the 10 behind Harry ... For me Erikson has to come deeper , he makes things happen from a deeper position , he's been piss poor so far this season though and needs a kick in the arse like a few more ....

Last night's 2nd half was a shocker , just like against Liverpool who pressed us hard we really struggled against that type of opposition ... It's a worry going forward , we all know by now how much we struggle when teams park the bus against us , now it's looking like we might not be so hot when others play us at our own game .... Time will tell .... C.O.Y.S .....

The thing is we don't know what we don't know.

What we do know though is that if it's a form thing, then neither Dier (all season) and Lamela (most of it) have no form. We instinctively feel that Wimmer because we've seen him and Nkoudou because we haven't, must be worth a try. Ok so perhaps not in the CL, but the only way to get form is to play, like against Bournemouth for example.

    Some varied views!

For me - Lloris was superb and the best keeper I have seen at the Lane - even better than Thorstvedt :)

Wanyama was solid and should have had Dembele in with him to thicken up the midfield. Son was ok, put himself about and Alli too but should have done better with the headed effort before half time. I agree with some comments on Trippier - I think he had good energy and delivery into the box.

Lamela was a liability last night - and Eriksen, well, he was a passenger and the game passed him by. Both cut frustrating figures IMO. Moreover, this might just be - but, the passing from us was shambloic at times in the 2nd half; unbelievably woeful! Not good enough for the CL.

Anyhow, we didn't lose and have 4 points from our 2 way fixtures - but we must win our 2 games at Wembley. QUALIFY!!!

I never mentioned Wimmer or Dier in my post!!In the minutes on the pitch given to Nkoudou he showed more desire than Lamela to play, and based on that IMO he should be given the chance over 90mins....

Not trying to defend Pochettino but we have a string of 7 games in about 23 days period. I think he put his strongest team out there without jeopardizing any players who may not be fully match fit (Dembele) in terms of playing the entire game. Going to Bayer and pulling out a draw isn't an easy task; with Harry and Toby out. I'd agree with most that Janssen won't be another Soldado; he has a lot more aspects to his game, soon as he keeps up his confidence...he'll starting firing. I do believe that Wimmer deserves a chance, but I don't see him breaking into the team if Jan stays healthy and keeps his current form. To be honest Poch will put in CCV as right cb before Wimmer. I can understand Dier was a bit rusty having not played in the back in sometime, he too some chance but none came back to bite him; that's okay.
